New 48 hour decs agreement

R

acecourse Media Group (RMG) and The Horsemen’s Group have negotiat- ed a new 48-hour declarations agreement, which will underpin the sale of media rights to overseas betting territories. Forty-eight-hour declarations have suc- cessfully increased revenues and been in- strumental in the promotion of British and Irish racing overseas. Domestically, how- ever, the extended declarations have been controversial, with bookmakers com- plaining that the subsequent rise in non- runners affecting profitability. The new three-year deal - which starts on January 1 and replaces an initial three- year agreement - includes incentives for The Horsemen’s Group, such as appear- ance money and added prize-money, to re- flect the Group’s continued support and assistance of 48-hour declarations.

BROADCAST Fixture split

T

he new fixture list for 2011 has seen the industry’s two LBO racing chan-

nels come out pretty even in terms of British horseracing content. While SIS can boast an impressive line-up of 780 fixtures during 2011, compared to Turf TV’s allocation of 692, some of the new premium meetings will be held at Turf TV racecourses.

The new British Champions’ Day meeting will be held at Ascot and of the seven other courses being used to host the British Champions Series, six are

contracted to Turf TV. SIS OB deal

R

etail broadcaster SIS has continued to diversify away from the LBO sec- tor with the news that its SIS LIVE divi- sion has secured a five–year contract to supply Sky Sports News with its SNG

(Satellite News Gathering ) OB capabili- ties, consisting of six dedicated SNG/OB trucks, all built to the highest HD specifications. One of the trucks is fitted with the unique uPod portable satellite uplink system, offering maxi- mum flexibility to the Sky Sports News team. SIS Live now provides 21 dedicat- ed SNG HD trucks across the Sky Group.
