he Bookmakers Technology Consor- tium is appearing at this year’s Book-

On the stand will be the Genus screen display and Finsoft EPOS systems which were the ini- tial projects that the consortium success- fully installed. The organisation will also have an internet enabled touch screen cus- tomer information terminal for display of prices generated by the consortium. This customer terminal can be used alongside any display screen system as it is not tied to the display system receiver.

ccording to a report by the Daily Tele- graph, The Inland Revenue is under- stood to be investigating the use of betting exchange Betfair by licensed bookmakers and whether they are using it for personal bets or as part of their business for hedging purposes. After years of opposition to the product, these days many bookmakers use the exchanges to manage their positions in- cluding some of the bigger organisations. A Betfair spokesman told the paper: “To avoid any potential confusion, licensed bookmakers should ensure proper segrega- tion between their professional and person- al use of Betfair – with separate Betfair ac- counts funded by different bank accounts.”
