KOREAN Air has added three more non-stop flights between its hub at Seoul Incheon International airport and the US Southeast gateway of Hartsfield- Jackson Atlanta International airport. The new night flights will complement the carrier’s daily afternoon service, bringing the number of widebody services it offers on the route to 10 every week. In addition, Korean Air Cargo provides four B747- 400 freighter services every week between the two airports.
PANALPINA, the Switzerland-based provider of global multimodal forwarding services, recorded a year-on-year increase in gross profit of 8 percent to US$363 million in the second quarter of the year. CEO Monika Ribar observed: “We even had the best June ever in terms of air freight volumes,” as volumes rose by 36 percent compared to the same period of 2009.
Austrian Airlines will reintroduce a five times a week B767-300 service between Vienna and Mumbai on 31 October. It suspended the route in March last year.
Cargoitalia: ShanghaiMD-11F
Italian freighter operator Cargoitaliawill thismonth (September) launch scheduledMD-11F services betweenMilan and Shanghai, flying the route non-stop initially on a twice-weekly basis and stepping up to three times a week fromOctober. A series of ad hoc flights during Julywere used as a‘soft launch’ to test all
elements of the newoperation,which introduces Cargoitalia’s latest aircraft embodying several design differences, including increased payload and forward cargo door. Cargoitalia commercial director Roberto Gilardoni commented: “Mainland
