As a global research partner of the DHL initiative, the institute will provide in-depth strategic knowledge and resources for the two parties to jointly deliver solutions in the areas of urban logistics, the operation of a sustainable supply chain and supply chain optimisation. The two parties will then work to find how best to distribute these findings to administrative and business organisations. commented: “Since both partners share the vision to improve the logistics infrastructure in China, the partnership will open up many opportunities and serve as a catalyst for the development of innovative logistics solutions in China.” The partnership with CDI is being heralded as a boost to
DHL’s research efforts in Asia, particularly in China. Initial projects, such as the piloting of new delivery vehicles with innovative route optimisation, will contribute to strengthening DHL’s service offerings of efficient and sustainable supply chains throughout China and the Asia Pacific Area. While questioning if reductions in carbon dioxide would be enough to arrest the progress of climate change, DHL believes that customer behaviour will influence the economy’s environmental standards far more than state regulation, noting in a statement: “The world will be a greener place in 10 years’ time; therefore companies will need to be greener too, if they want to be successful.” Speaking at this year’s annual DHL Innovation Day, which the company uses to honour the efforts of creative minds
