New records software

Seaward has extended its range of portable appliance testing (PAT) record keeping programs with the introduction of a new manual data entry product. Available with a free 90 day evaluation offer, the new PATGuard Elements program has been specifically designed for use with manual PAT testers that do not incorporate an internal memory for the storage of test results.

As a result the new software enables test results taken with manual PAT testers to be incorporated into a formal PC–based record keeping system.

This is in keeping with the HSE Memorandum of Guidance on the Electricity At Work Regulations 1898 which advises that records of maintenance including test results should be kept throughout the life of the equipment. In doing so the condition of equipment can be monitored and the effectiveness of preventative maintenance policies demonstrated.

Assets are visually presented using an

easy to follow tree structure

showing the site and location of each

asset. Assets can be quickly and easily transferred between sites or locations using the simple drag and drop facility. Full asset details and test result data can be quickly and easily entered via a single pop- up window. Dates of the last test and retest date are shown, with a clear visual warning if the retest interval has been exceeded.

As well as enabling accurate records to be maintained easily, PATGuard Elements also provides fast access to a number of in-built templates to prepare professional reports, certificates, work schedules and invoices. The software also enables test history to be compared for trend analysis. Professional test reports and certificates can be printed-off directly or Acrobat reports can be produced for those who wish to operate a paperless system. www.seaward.co.uk.

Tuff matting in Scotland

Edinburgh’s Apex International Hotel is using Tuff Spun Wear matting to help its reception staff combat the problems of standing fatigue. Because the hotel tends to be very busy, staff can spend many hours standing behind their work stations welcoming, registering and helping guests and visitors.

Manufactured by Plastic Extruders, anti-fatigue modules have been laid behind all the service counters to provide a well cushioned and very comfortable surface on which the staff can operate.

Tuff Spun Wear is a high performance anti-fatigue matting with 13mm thick underfoot cushioning comfort beneath its durable and slip resistant surface. This combination of deep foam backing with pebbled wearing surface is the ideal solution for situations where people have

to stand for long periods, such as behind service and retail counters, cash tills and reception desks.

The matting is available in dark grey and in different sizes, both in roll format and

individual modules which are supplied with edging to reduce any risk of tripping. Samples, information and performance Certificates are readily available from Plastic Extruders Ltd. Tel: 01268 571116 www.plastexmatting.com

Memcom

Memco Limited is celebrating a ground-breaking first year in sales for Memcom, its elevator emergency telephone, with exceptional sales across Europe.

scores 10/10

The quality and reliability of the Memcom are cited by many customers as the basis for their choice. Steve Cooling, Account Manager for Orona, an elevator manufacturer based in Sheffield, endorsed the new Memco auto-dialler: “For us the Memcom scores 10/10 and we are very happy with the product. The biggest plus point is the ease of set-up, with the backlit LCD display on the unit clearly showing the programming and status information. For all our customers the quicker the better in terms of installation and programming time and the Memcom has halved this for our engineers. We are also impressed with the delivery time on these units.” Memcom incorporates a variety of features to make installation, setup and continued use as easy and simple as possible. An on-unit keypad, backlit LCD and microphone all help to ease programming of numbers and messages, and the MPS (Multi Point Station) accessory is suitable for the motor room, pit and under-car locations instead of needing different units for all three. The flexibility of the product means that it also fulfils EN81-28 safety requirements across Europe.

Memcom is now available in German, French, Spanish and Italian versions. Please refer to www.memcom.eu for further details.
