Tim Wood receives the award from chief superintendent O’Hare

Making an impact

Four car parks in Rochdale have been awarded the Park Mark Safer Parking Award. Greater Manchester Police

chief superintendent O’Hare presented the awards to Tim Wood, network development manager at Impact Partnership, who manages the car parks. Te awards were received

following an assessment by the police to ensure the car parks are of a high standard in relation to cleanliness, signage, surveillance and lighting. Te four car parks that have

achieved the Park Mark Safer Parking Award are:

WONDERFUL

l Church Lane l Lower Broadfield l Upper Broadfield l Lake Bank

In addition, Archer car park in Middleton and the bus station multi-storey car park in the centre of Rochdale were also successful in having their Park Mark status renewed for the third year running. Wood said: ‘Receiving these

latest Park Mark Awards demonstrates our commitment to creating high-quality parking facilities that feels safe and has measures in place to reduce levels of crime.’

PARKING IN WOKING Woking Borough Council’s five parking facilities were re-assessed under the Safer Parking Award Scheme by BPA Safer Parking Scheme development manager for the south east, Mike Bibby, and police constable Stephen Cake, who is the Surrey Police accredited assessor.

The re-assessments proved successful and the awards were granted for a further 12 months. Once again, Woking BC’s commitment to the scheme has been proven with all of the recommendations from the last report being implemented. In addition, the already low level of recorded crimes across

the car parks was reduced by a further 12 incidents. With an annual vehicle throughput of just under two million across the five facilities, this is an excellent achievement. The shoppers’ car park was refurbished last year and this was recognised with a BPA award for a refurbished car park.

Bibby said: ‘Woking BC has yet again maintained a very good standard for its parking facilities, with excellent management practices and dedicated personnel who are to be congratulated on achieving a reduction in recorded vehicle crime over the past few years.’
