Adrian Meldrum appointed to board of IQE 2010-06-29


IQE, supplier of advanced semiconductor wafer services for the Wireless, Optoelectronic, Solar, and Solid-State Lighting industries announces the appointment of Adrian Meldrum to the board of IQE as Business Development Director.


Adrian Meldrum, 40, will have specific responsibility for developing IQE’s growing position in opto electronic products. These include the rapidly expanding consumer optoelectronic product lines, third generation Concentrator Photo Voltaics (CPV) and penetration of the Solid State Lighting (SSL) market through IQE’s recently acquired NanoGaN subsidiary.


Adrian joined IQE in October 2009, and has over 15 years experience in the optoelectronics market sector having held a range of technical and commercial roles with JDSU and more recently, business development and sales & marketing roles at Bookham (now Oclaro) where he was Executive Vice President and General Manager of the Telecom Division until joining IQE.


The appointment complements and further strengthens the Group’s Board, and brings a high level of opto electronic business experience to IQE.


IQE’s comprehensive portfolio of products includes III-V PHEMT, HBT, and BiFET epi- wafers for the wireless industry, as well as wafers for Lasers, detectors, VCSELs, Ultra High Brightness LEDs and multi-junction


photovoltaic solar cells for CPV applications. IQE’s products are grown by MBE, MOCVD and CVD at IQE’s seven manufacturing sites in the US, UK, and Singapore.


Adrian Gilmour Meldrum holds no further current and previous directorships and partnerships over the past five years.


Philips Lumileds orders additional AIXTRON G5 HT MOCVD reactor 2010-06-29


Aixtron announce that Philips Lumileds Lighting Company, a manufacturer of high-power light emitting diodes (LEDs) and a solid-state lighting industry pioneer, has ordered an additional AIXTRON G5 HT MOCVD reactor for the production of its LUXEON power LEDs.


Mike Pugh, Chief Procurement Officer of Philips Lumileds, comments “The G5 system’s fully automated operations through integrated wafer handling make this new MOCVD system platform very attractive for us and is one of the reasons we are adding another G5 system at our San Jose facility.”
