Important Information About the Paper and Publishing Industry

• Trees used for lumber and paper are planted and grown as renewable crop, like corn or wheat.

• For every one tree used in paper production, four are replanted. • Magazine paper is a made from hardwood pulp, a byproduct of the lumber indus- try.

• Paper suppliers’ practices are environmentally friendly, in compliance with the EPA and the Forest Sustainability Council.

• About 20% of magazines are recycled from the home, even though at least two- thirds of the population has access to magazine recycling in their community. • Recycled magazines are used to make newsprint, tissue, paper/box board and writ- ing and printing paper.
