By playing with the pressure and spray distance, I
create a kind of structure or texture over the face.
I work with very thin white and come back many
time to get the intensity of white colour needed. I
want to keep a very smooth shade effect with the
design.

I use exactly the same technique on the opposite
side of the helmet with the other alien face.

Always with white paint I continue to build the design
on the front and rear parts. Because the customer
asked me a dark colour with stars, I spray many stars
by turning down the pressure on my airbrush which
causes the paint to spit leaving me many tiny, tiny
specs of paint. I also paint a few more detailed stars
using small dagger strokes with light points in the
center.Notice that up until now everything has been
6
done only with white base coat.

Here is a look at the back of the helmet so you can
see how the design in total is coming along and how
it all ties in together.
