1960s

Foster Murphy B.A. (1962)

Foster continues to work as a freelance consultant. His clients range from international to local organisations. Working under the name Charitable Futures, the focus of the work is helping charities think strategically. Having fi rst seen Wagner in 1958 in Edinburgh, he is off to attend the Ring Cycle in Seattle in 2009.

David Elyan, B.Comm. M.A., F.C.I.S. (1962)

David was conferred with an Honorary Fellowship from the University of Gloucestershire in October 2008 for his distinguished career in business, the arts and the public service. David began his career in magazines and newspapers, where he jointly published Observer Art. He was company Secretary/Director for Audits of Great Britain and has served on many committees, such as the Committee of Arts Access for the Disabled, Chairman of the Friends of the Royal Academy of Music, and Director of Royal Albert Hall Developments Ltd. David has combined his career with contributions to public and voluntary service linked by a love of arts and music and a passion for collecting. His philanthropic activities in the arts have led him to donate works to various institutions including Trinity College. David is currently Chairman of the TCD Association in the Isle of Man.

David Lamb M.A. (1966)

David moved to the US in 1966. He is married to Marcia and has two children, Jonathan, a retired US Navy pilot and barrister and Sarah, a medical doctor. David is still Artistic Director of a regional theatre in Buffalo, NY and founder of The Buffalo Old Boys Rugby Club, National Finalists. David asks, “Is anyone from 1962-66 out there? Tiffy, Mike, Jo, David H, Chris W…?”

David Norris M.A. (1968)

Senator David Norris was honoured by Dublin’s Lord Mayor, Eibhlin Byrne, when she presented him with the ‘Lord Mayor's Award 2009’. David is anxious to receive emails from graduates so that he can keep in touch with them as his constituents. Robert John K. Gillespie M.A. (1969)

After 27 years in Dallas, Texas as a computer programmer, John has retired and returned to live in Lincoln with his wife Sue. He would love to hear from classmates from 1965-69, especially classicists and those involved in the Classical Society. e: sue_john.gillespie@yahoo.com


1950s

Michael Latham O.B.E., M.B. (1950)

Michael remains active in International Nutrition from his base on the faculty of Cornell University in New York State. In recent times, he was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award of the American Public Health Association and was one of three nutritionists worldwide to be honoured with the UN Standing Committee on Nutrition's ‘Award of Merit’ at their meeting in Hanoi, Vietnam.

Christopher Fitz-Simon M.A. (1959)

Christopher was Chair of D.U. Players and Editor of Icarus. Having acted in Ireland, Canada and the US on stage and TV. He joined RTÉ as a Producer-Director in 1960, remaining there for 10 years. He was the fi rst Artistic Director of the Lyric Theatre, Belfast, then Artistic Director of the Irish Theatre Company, and from the 1980s, he was Literary Manager and subsequently Artistic Director of the Abbey and Peacock Theatres, Dublin. Among his books are The Irish Theatre; The Boys: A Double Biography, a biography of Hilton Edwards and Michael MacLiammoir; The Abbey Theatre: the fi rst 100 years; and Eleven Houses, a memoir of Ireland in the 1940s, which has received international critical acclaim.


1940s

Anna M. Holden (née Hill) B.A. (1942)

Anna and her husband recently celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary. Her husband is 88 years old and Anna turned 90 years old in September. They now live in a retirement village with excellent facilities and have varied interests, and their two children live nearby.
