Safe banking AS Motors say their AS 652T
is the only 2-stroke mower, brush cutter, banks mower in the world with a 65cm cut and fitted with the twin wheels, they add that it eats through banks of up to 70° with ease. The AS 65 2T can be used on the most extreme angles with minimum user input and with a HAV rating of 3.5 m/s2
it
can be used for a long period of time. If the operator looses control the machine locks itself
instantly & unlike hydro machines there is no run on. The AS 65 2T features a
galvanised steel deck and stainless steel cables, the cutting deck is height adjustable with a lockable caster wheel, plus it has the cross blade system so like most AS machines it will mulch, brush cut and mow from the one deck.

number of new product launches together with enhancements to existing products in the company’s grading range for use by asphalt, concrete, landscaping, specialist sports and flooring contractors. These products are ideal for many applications including work on pavements, sports fields, concrete flatwork, tennis courts, footers, utilities, sewage and general construction grade and depth control projects. They include two new 244 (96 in) and 274 cm (108 in) grader attachments for Bobcat large-frame loaders; changes to existing 213 cm (84 in) laser box blade and grader attachments to accept new laser receivers and the launch of two new laser transmitters for use with these attachments from Trimble/Spectra Precision. The new graders are similar
to the current grader, but have been strengthened in many areas to stand up to the stresses when
working with larger machines, in particular the Bobcat compact tracked loaders. The new graders are approved for use on Bobcat S250 and larger skid-steer loaders, the A300 all-wheel steer loader and T250 and larger compact tracked loaders. The two new graders feature
a 6-way blade plus hydraulic side- shift of up to 33 cm left or right, both of which are fingertip controlled so that the operator can grade almost any surface and need never take their hands off the control levers. The hydraulic side-shift allows the blade to get further into corners when working in confined areas. It also allows grading right up to an obstacle (eg a pole or structure inside a building), side-shifting to get around it and then side-shifting back to continue to work. This minimises hand labour to clear the area around these objects.

City & Guilds NPTC works in close partnership with the Health and Safety Executive to try and raise awareness of health and safety through training and qualifications.
The
agricultural/horticultural/forestry/arboricultural industries don’t have an exemplary health and safety track record, but employers are starting to take a much greater degree of responsibility by providing appropriate training for their staff. To improve awareness City & Guilds NPTC have introduced specific health and safety qualifications for agriculture and production horticulture which are now widely used by the colleges and training providers. The Level 2 Award in Safe Working in Agriculture and Production Horticulture is suitable for those working in and those about to enter the industry. It covers the major source of accidents and ill health and the consequences of safe versus unsafe behaviour. This can be followed up with a Level 3 Award in Controlling Risks to Health and Safety in Agriculture and Production Horticulture. This is ideal for supervisors, skilled employees or unit managers, it covers health and safety law and the risk assessment process. These qualifications aren’t specific to the landscape and amenity side of the industry; however our range of certificates of competence also cover health and safety. When candidates take certificates of competence the assessment will include risk assessment,
pre-use safety of machines, PPE, working
competently using tools and equipment safely and observing all the relevant health and safety legislation. This is a significant part of the assessment and any breaches of health and safety issues by the candidate lead to the assessment being terminated. Proper training in the use of any machinery or equipment will
raise awareness of what is acceptable and appropriate in the work environment. This knowledge leads to greater understanding of risks involved with jobs, and staff can then make appropriate decisions. As the landscape and amenity industry often involves lone working, or working in isolated locations health and safety really does need to be part of the ethos of the workforce so that no one you know or employ becomes another HSE statistic.
