The Client Brief The brief required Sutcliffe
Play to create an innovative playscape for children in the surrounding area. Incorporating a broad range of equipment and taking into consideration the environment and sustainability of the products used.
Consultation
The Council carried out extensive consultations with two local schools, Cassiobury Infants and Junior School and youth community to inspire the design of the playground.
Design Proposal Sutcliffe Play designed the
playground to meet all the Disability Discrimination Act criteria – making it accessible for children with disabilities. The equipment installed, and the open plan of the playground, allows children of
all abilities to play side by side and provides challenging and stimulating play opportunities. New equipment includes a
cableway, tyre swing, large trampoline, sand pit, as well as two inclusive swings, toddler swings, back to back and dish roundabouts, seesaws and a rotating beam. Other improvements to the playground include the
installation of new rubber safety surfacing with leaf graphics, new footpaths, litter bins and playground signage. Constructed from natural materials the centre piece to the playground is a granite stone maze and commemorative stone monolith.
