practices have proved a key factor in sports and amenity contractor Complete Weed Control (CWC) retaining its contract with the Vale of Glamorgan Council embracing a comprehensive programme of highway weed management. “We won this contract on a 30/70 quality price model,” said Alan
Abel, director. CWC’s technical “Proven health and safety procedures and a good
track record enabled us to retain it for a further three years.“ For the Council Highway
Routine Maintenance Manager, Andrew Gwinnell commented “Environmentally we are committed to applying the least amount of chemicals we can and the Weed-IT is a good piece of equipment that keeps the quantity applied to a minimum. It also reduces the risk of drift because the spray nozzles are totally enclosed within a
protective cover.” Abel added “The Weed-IT system we use closely controls the quantity applied because it targets chlorophyll in the plant, so it will not spray any liquid on to hard surfaces where there are no weeds.Typically it can reduce the quantity of plant chemical applied by 70-80 percent,”
