Embedding the play

responded to the consultation on Play England’s latest publication, ‘Embedding the Play Strategy’, draft strategic planning guidance to assist local decision makers to put children’s play at the heart of their local communities. The guidance shows how planning and investing in local play space and considering children’s needs within the wider environment

benefit children, families and whole communities. It sets the development of a local play strategy within the framework for joint planning and commissioning by Children’s Trust Boards as well as spatial planning strategies.


Play


England is now analysing the responses before presenting the guidance and consultation responses to government for consideration; final publication is expected at the end of the year.


Consultants sought


Play England is seeking experienced and talented consultants to be part of the national Quality in Play accreditation panel. Applicants will need an understanding of and commitment to supporting quality assurance in children’s play provision as a process centred on the child’s right to play. Extensive experience in management or development support in children’s play, childcare or quality assurance is also required. www.playengland.org.uk/jobs


Play in Schools meeting


The Play in Schools and Integrated Children’s Settings group recently met to discuss promoting play and playwork in schools.The speakers outlined the importance of providing good quality play environments and investing in


playworkers and playwork training. The presentations also investigated the benefit of play for children’s learning. One of the clear points arising from the seminar was the desire


to raise the awareness of the value of playtimes in schools.

Playground gets top marks


Youngsters in Littleborough


are making the most of brand new playground facilities thanks to synthetic surfacing specialist Notts Sport.


Rochdale (MBC) called on Notts Sport for advice on the best options for a play area project at Hare Hill Park in Littleborough.The wide range of play equipment being fitted as part of the scheme required a surfacing system to accommodate a number of different critical fall heights

Ludic’ Area provides a full mix of play experiences

A new range of mazes with interchangeable panels create sustained interest and add a unique feature to the play area.
