We Need a Strong Leader T
here is such a thing as pure evil. there is such a creature as Satan, Lord of All Chaos, Selfi shness, and Death. His name is Vladimir Putin. He is the
leader of Russia. Out of nowhere, with no provocation at all, with no
reason at all except for the exercise of evil, Lord Satan has unleashed bloody war upon the peace-loving people of the second-largest country in Europe by area, Ukraine. Ukraine was where the fi rst civilizations in Eastern
Europe were founded as the result of marauding Norsemen sailing up the Dnieper and Don Rivers to rape and pillage and leave behind a few soldiers and killers to collect taxes. For centuries, Ukraine was an independent country
that was the premier agricultural factor in Europe, famed worldwide for its prodigious crops of wheat and corn. Ukraine was warred upon by other
tribes. It usually won and grew bigger. But it was eventually subjugated by the tsars of Russia and made into an inmate of what a famous philosopher called “the great prison house of nations, Russia.” When the Bolshevik Revolution
took over Russia, Ukraine made a brave attempt to become free. It was violent and ultimately unsuccessful. When the most vicious dictator in
Putin is a tough guy, but he’s not insane. If the West, richer and better- armed, stands
up to him he will back down or negotiate.
Russian history, Joseph Stalin, took over, he tortured the Ukrainians by an immense eff ort to starve them to death. This was called “collectivization.” It really was taking everything of any value down to a grain of rice or of wheat from human beings and then shooting them to death. Over 4 million Ukrainians died horribly. The behavior of the Stalinist government was so horribly
cruel that when Hitler sent the Wehrmacht into Ukraine, the Ukrainians greeted them with bread and salt, a sign of aff ection. Millions of Ukrainians joined with the Nazis to fi ght
Stalin. This is by no means a good thing, and I do not mention it as a compliment. It does show how viciously Stalin, and Lenin before him, had treated Ukraine. When the Nazis surrendered, millions more Ukrainians
were sent into labor camps or shot out of hand. The Ukrainians absolutely hated the Russians and communism.

rapidly toward prosperity. It did not join the North Atlantic Treaty Organization and made a point of its neutrality. Then along came comrade Putin, former KGB
colonel. He demanded that Ukraine renounce any possibility of joining NATO and that it completely disarm. The Ukrainian people said over and over they
had no aggressive designs upon any territory at all within Russia. But the Ukrainians, remembering how Stalin had done real genocide to the disarmed Ukrainians, refused to disarm. With Donald Trump as president, Vladimir Putin made endlessly threatening noises but did not invade Ukraine. When Joe Biden took the oath of offi ce, comrade Putin, like a shark who can smell fear, set up his forces to invade Ukraine. Then, in late February 2022,
Russia did invade Ukraine. With carpet bombing of civilians. With the use of world-forbidden cluster bombs, with ceaseless anti- personnel artillery, the Russians attacked and killed and killed and killed.
Ukrainians fought back gloriously. Their president, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, showed
the world what courage is. By an amazing coincidence, I, your humble
servant, have a doctor here in Los Angeles who knows well a doctor formerly in Russia who knows Putin well. That man told my doctor that Putin is indeed a
tough guy. He likes to bully people. Lives for it. But he is not insane. If the West, incalculably richer and better-armed, stands up to Putin, he will back down or at least negotiate. Do we have a president who can do this? I hope
so. I pray so. The world needs a strong pro-freedom, pro-independence leader in Washington. Let’s pray we get him. If we do, he will be a marvel for the ages. But if
we see weakness coming out of the West, if Putin pushes us out of Ukraine, there is no telling where he will stop, if at all.
