Lexus LM 350h: The First-Class Captain’s Lounge
The Lexus LM 350h is not a converted builder’s van. It is a bespoke Luxury Mover (LM) engineered from the ground up on Toyota’s GA-K passenger car platform. Designed to disrupt the traditional chauffeur market dominated by the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, this vehicle trades low-slung three-box styling for the sheer opulence of a palatial, high-roof sanctuary. While a seven-seat version is available, the headline act is the four-seat Takumi specification. In the back, Lexus has omitted the middle rows to install two airline-style captain’s chairs that recline flat into an ottoman sleeping position. These seats feature heating, ventilation, and seven distinct massage programs controlled by smartphone-like remotes.
A glass partition separates the driver from the VIP passenger zone. This divider houses an enormous 48-inch widescreen television cou- pled with a pristine Mark Levinson sound system. A built-in refrigerator keeps refreshments cold, while the Climate Concierge system infuses microscopic water particles into the airflow to maintain cabin humidity. Material choices are flawless, blending plush semi-aniline leather with open-pore wood finishes.

The drive is tuned explicitly for low-speed serenity. The suspension is soft and compliant, soaking up urban speed bumps and scarred tarmac with absolute ease. However, the trade-off is a touch of body roll through faster roundabouts. Active Noise Control keeps wind and road roar strictly outside the glass. The only fly in the ointment is the electronic continu- ously variable transmission (e-CVT), which can cause the engine to drone loudly if the driver demands sudden acceleration up a motorway slip road.
