The North West Ask submits its plans for Manchester Business Park
Ask Real Estate (Ask) has submitted a planning application to Manchester City Council for the development of 9 last mile logistics units off Aviator Way, close to Manchester Airport. The development at Manchester Business Park will create around 115,000 sq ft of commercial space in units ranging from 6,700 sq ft to 21,646 sq ft. Ask acquired the 7.8 acre plot in September and has since undertaken a public consultation pro- gramme to invite the local community and neighbouring businesses to review and comment on its plans. The planning application has now been lodged and subject to its approval, construction is planned to start on site in summer 2026.
Commenting on the application submission Jamie Hills, development director for Ask said: “It was great to hear the local community’s views on our plans for the site which sits between a number of well-established businesses on Manchester Business Park including Costain, Emirates, Regus and PZ Cussons. We appreciate the feedback from everyone who attended the consultation event and provided suggestions online. Our plans for this prime site would bring much needed commercial space, attracting businesses and helping to create jobs for local people, further contributing to Wythenshawe’s economy and the prosperity of the town.”
With a GDV of approximately £30million, Ask is considering a range of funding options for development of the scheme which will target busi- nesses including those in hi-tech industries, aviation, logistics and ware- housing sectors. The units will deliver the highest sustainability and smart credentials, and will be BREEAM Excellent, EPC A and designed to be net zero in operation.
The development sits close to the A555, at Junction 5 of the M56 and with global connections via Manchester Airport. It also sits alongside the £1bn MIX MANCHESTER development which will create up to 2 million sq ft of advanced manufacturing space, R&D labs and office space as well as hotels, leisure facilities and public areas.
Eddisons boosts transport planning team with two new hires Shanid Chalil and Tom Craven
Property consultancy Eddisons has strength- ened its Manchester-based transport planning and highway design team with the appointment of two new transport planners, as the firm continues to see grow- ing demand for its infra- structure and development advisory services across the North West and beyond.
Tom Craven has joined the business as a principal transport planner, bringing several years of experience from international engineering and professional services firm Ramboll.
He is joined by Shanid Chalil, who comes on board as a gradu- ate transport planner. Shanid recently completed a postgraduate degree in transport planning and engineering at the University of Leeds, having previously studied civil engineering at Vellore Institute of Technology in India. He will support the team on trans- port assessments, travel plans and wider development-related transport work.
Now a team of 19, Eddisons’ growing transport planning and highway design consultancy provides detailed highways design, transport and traffic advice to predominantly private sector clients, helping them maximise the commercial value of land and assets throughout the planning and design process.

GMPF ACCELERATES GROWTH AT MIX MANCHESTER WITH £42M INVESTMENT
Greater Manchester Pension Fund (GMPF) has announced an investment of £42million to facilitate the development of the North of England’s largest Premier Inn within the MIX MANCHESTER hotel district at Manchester Airport. The announcement comes weeks after GMPF confirmed it had raised its stake in the joint venture partnership of MIX MANCHESTER, increasing its shareholding up to 30%, along with Manchester City Council, which has taken on a shareholding of 30%.
The funding agreement paves the way for construction to start by main contractor, Beijing Construction Engineering Group (BCEG) – which also forms part of the MIX MANCHESTER joint venture. With work already underway, completion has been earmarked for Q2 2028. In February 2025, MIX MANCHESTER and Whitbread PLC, the parent company to Premier Inn, secured planning approval from Manchester City Council for the new 276-bedroom hotel.
Designed by 5plus Architects, the Premier Inn will showcase the hotelier’s latest style bedrooms, including its popular Premier Plus rooms, and the brand’s stylish ‘The Social’ space on the ground floor. The new Premier Inn is the fourth hotel to be built within MIX MANCHESTER’s hotel district, which is a two-minute walk from the airport’s Ground Transport Interchange and close to Terminals 1 and 2.
Beyond the hotel district, on the northern edge of the MIX MANCHESTER campus, construction of Dakota’s second hotel in Manchester is well underway and is set to open in 2026.
Manchester City Appoints CBRE as property agent on One Medlock Square
Manchester City Football Club has appointed CBRE as the sole leasing agent for the next phase of their commercial development at the Etihad Campus. Situated in the heart of the future Entertainment Destination, One Medlock Square will offer 30,000 sq ft of new Grade A office space, with floor plates of 10,000 sq ft each.
Scheduled for completion in late 2026, this development will provide ESG-focused spaces within a vibrant leisure district, offering more than just office space. With wellbeing at its core, the development is situated alongside world-class sports facilities including indoor and outdoor run- ning tracks, a gym, tennis and football centres, swimming pools, and a national squash centre.
