The Falkirk & Grangemouth Growth Deal

The Falkirk and Grangemouth Growth Deal: A Blueprint for Transformational Development** “To deliver transformational economic, inclusive, and sustainable growth, making Falkirk and Grangemouth smarter, greener, more resilient, and inclusive—a place where work opportunities and

quality of life create an ideal environment for people, businesses, and communities to thrive.”

The Falkirk and Grangemouth Growth Deal is paving the way for an economic transformation in Central Scotland, unlocking an ambitious future for Falkirk, Grangemouth, and the surrounding communities. This £150 million investment partnership between the UK and Scottish Governments, Falkirk Council, and regional stakeholders promises to make Falkirk and Grangemouth smarter, greener, more resilient, and more inclusive.

At the heart of the Growth Deal are 11 projects and one 10 year programme to address key regional priorities: clean growth, industrial innovation, inclusive job creation, and infrastructure enhancement. The Deal’s primary goal is to drive sustainable economic growth while positioning the area as a hub for the green economy. As Scotland’s largest industrial site, Grangemouth is set to lead in green manufacturing and sustainable technologies, catalysing change for other industrial areas across the UK.

The Growth Deal outlines several high-impact Innovation projects to support advanced manufacturing, green tech, and clean energy research, placing Grangemouth at the forefront of sustainable industry. This innovation ecosystem aims to attract businesses at the cutting edge of environmental science and renewable energy, generating new green jobs and enabling a thriving, future-ready workforce.

Significant investments in transport and green infrastructure are also planned, aiming to make Falkirk and Grangemouth the most connected region in Scotland. Improvements to transport routes will enable efficient movement across the area, enhancing Falkirk’s appeal as a business and tourist destination. Meanwhile, new investments in education and workforce development will equip local people with future-oriented skills, aligning regional talent with current and future business demands.

Working alongside our partners, we have a shared ambition for the area to reach its full potential for communities, delivering green growth, attracting new people, business and investment by improving our towns and public places and enhancing the lived experience for our people, businesses and visitors alike. Our ambitions are embedded in two key themes – Creating Great Places and Innovative Industry.

Over the next 30 years, it is estimated that the Growth Deal will deliver over £628 million in economic benefit, with an employment impact of over 1600 net jobs and generating around £107 million of gross value added (GVA). A commitment to reducing emissions aligns with Scotland’s net-zero targets, establishing the Falkirk and Grangemouth region as a leader in the green transition.

Councillor Cecil Meiklejohn, Leader of Falkirk Council, highlighted the Growth Deal’s transformational potential: “This investment is more than an economic boost; it’s about creating inclusive, high-quality job opportunities and fostering a community where people want to live, work, and thrive.”

The Falkirk and Grangemouth Growth Deal is poised to revitalise the region by drawing investment, driving innovation, and elevating community well- being. With an ambitious vision for sustainable and inclusive growth, the deal sets the stage for Falkirk and Grangemouth to become dynamic, future- ready communities, attracting new residents, talent, and businesses. As these projects take shape, Falkirk and Grangemouth are not just adapting to the future—we’re building it.
