Scotland North Lanarkshire – The Place to Invest

and manufacturing, construction, food and consumer goods, e-commerce, the sector,

public infrastructure, energy and defence.

The expansion takes the total Wincanton headcount on both North Lanarkshire sites to more than 100 employees.

Over the last decade the overall number of businesses in North Lanarkshire has increased by 1,280 (18.2%) - significantly higher than the Scottish figure of 8.3%.

Eurostampa is opening a new manufacturing facility at Westfield, Cumbernauld.

North Lanarkshire’s reputation as a prime location

for business and industry has been enhanced by the recent arrival of three major European and UK companies.

Their location has brought investment totalling £85 million to the local economy and more than 600 new jobs. Importantly, this reflects ongoing private sector growth and investment in

North Lanarkshire, particularly in manufacturing and transport sectors.

Premium label manufacturer, Eurostampa, is opening a 177,000 sq ft facility at Westfield, Cumbernauld. The Italian-owned firm (previously known as Gilmour & Dean) is expanding

its business in Scotland and

relocating from Glasgow, almost doubling its previous factory space, creating 90 new full- time equivalent jobs. As part of a £30 million investment, the move will enable Eurostampa to increase capacity to meet market demand, as well as significantly reducing its carbon emissions.

The Guala Closures Group is investing over £40 million in a new state of the art facility based at Gartcosh Business Interchange. The site was chosen for its easy access and central location to best serve their customers. Purchasing the land demonstrates their commitment and provides stability for their future in Scotland. The company is the only Scottish manufacturer of closures to the Scottish whisky industry and produces bottle pouring mechanisms for

global customers. The 220,000 sq. ft

factory has been built on a 15-acre site and will allow the company to introduce advanced technology, boost productivity and provide room for future growth and investment. Current employees will relocate to Gartcosh from the company’s existing sites in Bridge of Allan and Kirkintilloch.

Supply chain solutions giant Wincanton has acquired an additional 127,000 sq ft of industrial space at Belgrave Logistics Park in Bellshill, complementing their Scottish Gateway hub at Eurocentral, near Motherwell. The 10- year lease term represents a £15m investment by the company. Wincanton is a leading supply chain partner to UK business, operating across a number of markets including retail

We asked Yvonne Weir, the council’s Enterprise Manager, what makes North Lanarkshire such an attractive location for business?

“We’re at the heart of Scotland with unrivalled transport links, a skilled workforce, and high quality business accommodation and development land,” Yvonne stated.

“We’re

also delivering a unique digital connectivity programme that’s driving the roll out of full fibre across the region.”

If a business is considering moving into North Lanarkshire, how can you help them?

“First, we can help find the right premises. North Lanarkshire has a variety of land and accommodation available to buy or let – from small units for start-up businesses and office space for SMEs, to large warehouses and industrial premises.

“Then, through North Lanarkshire’s Working we can support businesses to recruit the right staff for their needs, and employers may be entitled to 50% of the national minimum wage for the first six months. In our schools we run successful initiatives to connect businesses with our future young workforce, ensuring our curriculum and the skills of our young people match the current and future needs of industry.

“We also offer a comprehensive programme of support for local businesses, including one- to-one advisory support through our Business Gateway service, free workshops and events, bespoke training, grant funding and expert advice. Earlier this year, the council established

Wincanton is leasing 127,000 sq ft of industrial space at Belgrave Logistics Park in Bellshill.

“And with Glasgow City Region City Deal and our own capital funding, we’re investing in transport infrastructure to improve access to housing and leisure as well as business and industry. This includes a new road into the regeneration site at Ravenscraig, one of the largest brownfield sites in Europe, and the East Airdrie Link Road, which will run between the M8 and the A73 south of Cumbernauld and will provide access to the replacement University Hospital Monklands site.

“The significant investment by Eurostampa, Guala Closures and Wincanton is highlighting how attractive North Lanarkshire

is as a

location for local, national and international business and industry.

“Their arrivals are paving the way for others, and we are

currently in discussions with

industry investors looking to locate to North Lanarkshire in 2025/26.

With all this and more, we believe North Lanarkshire is the place to invest for a positive, prosperous future.”
