Ingenza signs 10-year lease at Pioneer’s Edinburgh Technopole
Ingenza, a world-leading contract research,
development and manufacturing organisation (CRDMO) and technology accelerator, has signed a 10-year lease at the Moubray Building at Edinburgh Technopole, part of Pioneer Group.
Following a detailed strategic review, the company has embarked on the creation of a multi-million- pound facility to help drive its ambitious growth plans. The purpose-built premises will more than double the company’s current footprint to approximately 25,000 sq ft, expanding its fermentation and research facilities.
Edinburgh Technopole is one of twelve life science campuses in the UK managed by Pioneer, as well as an integral partner in the Midlothian Science Zone, a world-leading centre of research excellence in animal health and life sciences.
John Mackenzie, Director (Scotland) at Pioneer says: “We are delighted that Ingenza will be locating with us at Edinburgh Technopole. As a UK and world leader in industrial biotechnology, Ingenza is a very welcome addition
to Pioneer’s ecosystem. Importantly, the business is remaining in the Midlothian Science Zone,
whilst expanding its lab and office operations and creating up to 50 new jobs. Ingenza’s growth is hugely positive for our local life sciences cluster, being an exemplar Pioneer model of local economic development, partnership and impact that will accelerate scientific discovery.”
Jaymin Amin, Chief Business Officer of Ingenza, says: “The expansion is a landmark investment for Ingenza, enabling us to increase our fermentation scale to 100L, as well as expanding our research and development labs to support larger programmes. Our inGenius™ platform technology is redefining drug substance development and sustainable biotech manufacturing, and this exciting move will provide an independent, world-class facility to better serve customers worldwide, accelerating our business growth.”
Ingenza anticipates moving into the new facility in Q2 of 2025.
Pioneer Group is a specialist life science infrastructure and venture building company focused on creating ecosystems that help companies accelerate cures for human and planetary health challenges.
The Centre Livingston
The Centre, Livingston, one of Scotland’s largest shopping centres, unveils plans to expand further into the leisure sector with the arrival of the UK’s leading family entertainment operator, Hollywood Bowl, featuring 22 state-of-the-art bowling lanes, an amusements area and a bar and diner, covering 26,000 sq. ft., within the next year.
The move into more experience-led activities will add to the existing portfolio of over 150 stores and restaurants, including Flannels, H&M, River Island, M&S, wagamama, Nando’s and Five Guys.
The plan is to continue to expand the leisure offering to give people the opportunity to ‘shop, eat and play’ when they visit the shopping centre, which spans over 1 million sq. ft, attracts over 14 million visitors a year and has over 3,000 car parking spaces.
The Centre, Livingston was purchased in November 2023 by LCP, part of M Core Property, one of the UK’s leading, privately owned commercial property development and management companies, with ambitious plans to transform the shopping centre into a vibrant retail and leisure destination and attract more global brands.
New arrivals since the purchase include Scotland’s first Cinnabon branch, the international beauty store, Rituals, BeLeaf Juice Bar, Beauty’s Inn, Pop Specs, Buzart, Afro Crest and Elite Smile Dental Clinic.
Luxury home furniture retailer, The Designer Rooms, has also just opened with a 10,000 sq. ft. showroom.
Neil Woodward, Asset Manager at LCP, said: “We are delighted to have exchanged with Hollywood Bowl to take approximately 26,000 sq. ft of new leisure space at The Centre, Livingston. The opening of a 22-lane bowling venue next year will be a major milestone for us as we plan to expand even further into the leisure sector and also add additional retail and leisure brands to our portfolio.”
