The East Midlands Nottinghamshire: A Green and Innovative Place What are strengths?

Strong links between schools, colleges, universities, the County is more affordable to buy a home, and is set to become one of the most sustainable places to live. On healthcare and sustainability, we work closely with our brilliant education sector, local businesses and anchor institutions to protect our landscapes and improve the climate resilience.

What is the infrastructure like?

Nottinghamshire’s central location has excellent transport connectivity for families, learners and businesses. There’s an incredible mix of bustling, historic towns, well connected by rail and the A46, M1 and A1 corridors, so ideal for green logistics and intermodal transport. East Midlands Airport is on our doorstop, (a future freeport location), with Birmingham and Manchester also in easy reach. There’s strong broadband connectivity plus we are delivering the midlands wide Gigahub and EV charging programmes, to boost signals from key buildings and accelerate our net zero plans.

What is the local growth potential?

To stimulate healthy growth and transform our communities we are investing in green places and national programmes that put Nottinghamshire at the forefront of UK innovation. Sites include East Midlands Development Company, Investment Zones, STEP Fusion, Automated

Distribution and Manufacturing, Robotics, Aerospace

Technology, and a new centre for science and innovation at Sherwood Observatory, and many more. Already a fantastic place to explore and make memories, the area will soon benefit from a £1.14billion local devolution deal and a £165million Government Place package. This will bring exciting opportunities to the region and we’re working with partners to deliver the Inward Investment proposition shaped for local needs.

What makes Nottinghamshire different? A rich and vibrant cultural scene. Most famous for the legend of Robin Hood, this place has stunning scenery, quirky village events, annual festivals, theatres, museums, and galleries that all showcase our heritage. People can enjoy many activities, from archery and cycling at Sherwood Forest, to white water rafting at the National Water Sports Centre. Our towns have a wide range of pubs, bars, and restaurants to help our hard- working people enjoy their successes. The County is a wonderful place to live, work and visit, and has people with ambition, creativity, and drive.
