The Yorkshire Counties Sunny Bank Mills


Two new deals have been completed at Sunny Bank Mills, the historic Yorkshire mill complex between Leeds and Bradford.


During the past 11 years Sunny Bank Mills, one of the most famous family-owned mills in Yorkshire, has been transformed into a modern office and mixed- use complex for the 21st century, creating nearly 500 sustainable new jobs.


The two new companies moving into Sunny Bank are PQS Tech Solutions, formerly based in Pontefract Lane, Leeds, which is taking high-quality space in No 10 The Mending Rooms, and David Yeadon Ltd, which is relocating from Bagley Lane, Leeds to the iconic 1912 Mill.


Landlord John Gaunt commented:

Six Promtions for Knight Frank Leeds

Global property consultancy Knight Frank has announced six promotions at its Leeds office.


Tom Goode, Matt Turner, Rebekah Donaldson, Amy Wood and James Green have all become Partners, while Victoria Harris is now an Associate.


Nationally Knight Frank has promoted 51 employees to Partner and 77 to Associate.


Henrie Westlake, Partner and head of the Leeds office, commented: “These promotions are thoroughly deserved and a recognition of the hard work, dedication and dynamism each of the six have demonstrated during the past 12 months.”


New Director for CBRE’s Planning & Development Team in the North


CBRE’s Planning & Development team has named Hannah Blunstone as its new Director to join the Northern business, in an internal move to focus on the teams alternative use capabilities.


Hannah has been with CBRE for more than a decade and was previously a Director in the London and South East team. She brings more than 15 years’ experience as a chartered town planner across a range of sectors, most recently focusing on


life sciences, higher education and student accommodation, film studios, healthcare and mixed use development.


Hannah will be based out of both Manchester and Leeds, with a focus on identified growth sectors across the region.


In CBRE’s recently issued research report, ‘Which City? Which Sector? - Real Estates prospects over the next decade’ - that identifies the top 10 growth cities for different sectors, Manchester takes the top spot as the UK’s leading growth city across multiple sectors including all residential classes (including student accommodation) and a top 3 destination for Life Sciences. The research report also identified positive signs for other northern core cities with Leeds, Sheffield, Newcastle and Liverpool named amongst the top 10 growth locations for all use class sectors covered by the report. Hannah’s appointment is timely to support these growth sectors.

Work Starts on Mixed Use Refurbishment Project in Wakefield City Centre


Award-winning main construction contractor, Priestley Construction, has started work on a £2.5 million mixed use refurbishment project on Marygate in the heart of Wakefield city centre.


The design and build project will see Marygate House, which was originally built as an office building in the 1970s, transformed into 26 stunning apartments over three floors.


In addition, the existing ground-floor retail units will be upgraded with new shop fronts and canopies, to create an impressive and rejuvenated streetscape, on behalf of developer, IP Marygate House.


The development will offer a selection of smart studio apartments, as well as one and two bedroom homes, that will all benefit from a high specification finish with luxury furnishings, generous open-plan living areas, large windows, spacious bathrooms and high-speed fibre broadband. The homes will be ready to move into early next summer.


The scheme has been designed by Leeds based PDG Architects and Bingley based Holdgate Consulting Engineers is providing structural engineering services.


Priestley Construction is currently working on a number of other high-profile contracts across Yorkshire, the North West and London. These include converting a Grade II Listed school building into 83 apartments on Great George Street in Leeds and refurbishing the ground floor of Conditioning House in Bradford city centre into office space and a gymnasium, as well as designing and building seven industrial units alongside it.
