Bauer appoints new managing director for its sports division

The Big One shows and Bauer’s angling titles also have a new leader on board, Oswin Grady, who says it’s set to be better than ever. Grady, managing director of Bauer’s Sport division, told T&G: ‘’I’m hugely excited to have joined the angling team at Bauer Media and look forward to being part of the team continuing to drive the growth of these great events. The team are doing a phenomenal job in bringing back previous exhibitors and signing up new retailers and manufactures to the show! Getting those anglers to the events is well under way with a solid advance ticket sale performance. Our ticket sales this early on is ahead of last year which is a great sign that the anglers love these events. We have refreshed the website with a new

look, updated and developed some exciting marketing assets, and will of course be using our massive reach in print, data, SEO, social as well as investing in a paid digital plan, radio and a secure grassroots campaigns. Promotion to the two events is also separately targeted – with our printed and digital media we are able to target the audiences separately – and with an added bonus in the Midlands as the group owns radio stations in this area, which will allow us to target 1.5 million listeners too.’’

’For Garbolino, Stoneleigh was hugely successful last year. The West Midlands is a ‘hot-bed’ for match and pleasure anglers alike, and always has been for both natural and commercial anglers. For years the area has been screaming out for a good consumer show, and when the Big One rocked up with its great reputation last year it was always going to work. I see the show only getting stronger over the next few years as more and more key brands support it, giving all brands the perfect platform to showcase their products. We are looking forward to next year’s show, which is sure to be even bigger with even more anglers through the doors.’’ Darren Cox, UK General Manager- SERT Fishing

‘’I would like to say a Big Thank You to Vince Davies and his team for putting together the Big One Show that over the years has helped Octbox go from a brand no one has heard about to one everyone seems to talk about. In the past we use to attend lots of shows around the UK and Europe and non-ever came close to that of The Big One in terms of size, number of customers and quality of the show. This year we also attended the show at Stoneleigh and considering it was in its fi rst year all my team were surprised just how much attention we received and the business that went on to generate. We are looking forward to supporting next year’s shows at both Farnborough and Stoneleigh Park.’’ Rick Tyler, Managing Director Octbox Ltd.

for 2020 this area of the show will be packed with likeminded anglers and boasts some of the World’s top lure companies, recognised experts, and an interactive demonstration area where you can learn how to get the best from this growing area of our sport. Vince Davies told T&G: “Bookings for both shows are going very well indeed. “Farnborough is virtually sold out

already and with Stoneleigh, exhibitors have listened to the plans and are committing to it. We’re already 50 per cent up with exhibitor numbers. “The Big One shows really are a celebration of angling. There is a touch of magic with the shows and really

the sky is the limit for how far and how big we can grow these events.” T&G understands that Bauer is

currently working with the hotel trade to secure deals for exhibitors at both events. “It’s all part of the service,” added Vince. “If we can secure better pricing for our exhibitors, then everyone's a winner.” Tickets can be bought at www. thebigoneshow.co.uk and to book space at the show or if you have any other exhibitor queries, please call Kayla on 01733 213201 or email kayla.nicholas@bauermedia.co.uk or Donna on 01733 395028 or email donna.harris@bauermedia.co.uk

‘’Having exhibited at The Big One in Farnborough for more than 10 years, this has always been our best UK show. Since Bauer have bought it, the power of marketing has been second to none and I’m sure this show will grow from strength to strength going forward. It’s such a great opportunity to showcase all our new products from all our brands. When we were told about the new show in Stoneleigh we were sceptical at fi rst, however because of our great relationship with both Vince and Bauer we decided to support it in year 1. We were absolutely blown away by the attendance and type of angler that we had not seen previously and subsequently booked more space for 2020. We are confi dent that with Bauer professional approach and marketing capability this show will become even more successful.’’
