NOBA VITAL LIPIDS Antibacterial effect of MCFAs leads to better performance Products with high levels of medium chain fatty acids (MCFAs) like C8, C10 and C12 fatty acids are of big interest in the feed industry, because of the antibacterial effect. C8 and C10 fatty acids have a strong antibacterial effect on gram negative bacteria, like E. Coli and Salmonella, and on gram positive bacteria, like Streptococcus and Clostridia. Medium-chain fatty acids are most suitable for pigs, poultry and calves.

MCFAs as liquid or powder Noba Vital Lipids has different products with different levels of medium- chain fatty acids, all products are in the Vital range. Products can be in a liquid form, or in a dry form. Noba Dry Vital Pure is a free flowing powder, is dust free and has high levels of C8, C10 and C12 fatty acids.

Dry Vital Pure improves FCR Dry Vital Pure has a positive effect on growth and feed conversion (FCR) in newly weaned piglets. This is the conclusion from a trial with 3 groups and 6 repetitions on 174 newly weaned piglets that was performed by Noba Vital Lipids in a trial farm in Belgium. The effect on feed conversion amounted to 5.5% for the post-weaning period between days 1 and 47. The largest effect was measured in the first 21 days after weaning, we have seen an improvement of FCR of 14%. This proves again that better intestinal health gives better technical results!

NUTRIAD For more than 50 years, multinational feed additives producer Nutriad has been designing and delivering unique solutions for improved animal performance and health around the world.

ADIMIX® - butyrate-based gut empowerment The ADIMIX® product range consists of a variety of butyrate

formulations designed to suit different feed applications and animal species. For optimum intestinal support ADIMIX®

Precision utilises a

unique precision delivery matrix that provides protection from loss in the stomach and subsequent delayed release along the intestinal tract. Target delivery of butyrate to specific areas in the intestine provides support for development and function of the villi and for the control of Salmonella and Campylobacter.

to strengthen the intestinal barrier function thereby supporting health and the microbiota balance and preventing colonization of pathogenic bacteria.

APEX® 5 – Enhanced botanical booster Designed specifically to improve performance and efficiency, APEX® 5

stimulates digestion, has anti-oxidant properties and modulates gut microbial activity. Its botanical components have been optimized for maximum stability and efficacy using a variety of novel in vivo and in vitro assays.

ULTRACID® - Lowering gastric pH for optimized growth

An elevated gastric pH in pigs can result in a reduced digestion of feed and overgrowth of bacterial pathogens in the intestine. The ULTRACID®

effects by reducing stomach pH, thereby activating stomach proteases and optimizing digestibility.

ORFFA Calsporin®

- probiotic with new

registration for sows, suckling piglets and dogs The probiotic Calsporin®

received a

new authorization for use in feed for sows, suckling piglets and dogs. The viable spores of Bacillus subtilis C-3102 help to maintain an ideal microflora balance in the digestive tract. In sows, addition of Calsporin to the diet resulted in a reduction in body weight loss and back fat loss during lactation, improved health and fertility, increased piglet and litter weight at weaning and an improvement in faecal score. In organic farming, where the lactation period is substantially longer than in a conventional based pig farm, loss of body condition during lactation is even more an issue. As Calsporin®

is allowed to be used

in organic feed, the probiotic can support the longevity of sows kept under various conditions. The beneficial effects of Calsporin®

in the

digestive tract of dogs has shown to improve faecal consistency and reduce faecal ammonia. The robust spores of Bacillus subtilis C-3102 enable high stability in heat treated feed (pelleted and expanded) and during the long shelf life of Petfood. The new registrations complement the existing approval of Calsporin in feed for broilers, laying hens, turkey, ornamental and minor avian species (game birds), piglets after weaning (< 35 kg) and ornamental fish. Calsporin can be used in a vast arrange of species resulting in better performance and well-being of the animals concerned.
