3 Systems was established by three British yachtsmen in Palma de Mallorca, Spain in
1996. They started the first internet café in Mallorca and initially offered the full spectrum of maritime electronic services in refit and repair including autopilots, GMDSS solutions, early chart plotters and satcom systems. By 2006, the directors foresaw that data communication was going to be a huge growth area at sea, so the company decided to focus on all things to do with ‘data’. Since then, the company has been at the forefront of pioneering and innovative marine technology. They installed the first Sea Tel 4003 VSAT on a yacht, the first yacht specific VSAT service, the first Kymeta flat VSAT panel on a yacht and recently the Starlink Maritime system. e3 became part of Grupo Arbulu in 2012 and is now one of the nine top-level companies in the Group.
