Harrington Generators International (HGI) reported keen interest in

its new HSD silenced series of diesel 1,500rpm machines, available with rated outputs of 9, 12, 16, 20, 30, 45, 60, 80, and 100kVA. Machines up to 20kVA have Kubota engines, while larger models have Perkins power units, coupled to Mecc Alte alternators and Deep Sea controls. Two new generators were also unveiled. The first is a 6kVA, 3,000rpm

0844 800 1750 Vanguard races forward

Briggs & Stratton’s Commercial Power brand, Vanguard, launched a new range of single-cylinder, horizontal shaft petrol engines, which the manufacturers says has been developed in response to feedback from customers, including hirers, rather than simply modifying an existing design. The engines are designed for improved starting, reduced maintenance, less noise

It offers running hot water, a heating system,

microwave and kettle, and environmentally sensitive features including PIR (passive infra- red) activated lighting to reduce energy use and cost. The unit seen at the Show was bought by EasyHire Welfare of Shropshire, which has a fleet of 60 Easycabin units, and towed its latest acquisition back to base when the exhibition closed.

and vibration, together with better service and support. They are said to offer year-round starting at temperatures as low as -28°C, together with corrosion resistance, 200-hour oil change intervals, and they incorporate Vanguard’s single ignition and fuel shutoff system, TransportGuard to prevent oil dilution in transit. In addition, Briggs & Stratton says that the units’ dimensions make them a ‘drop-in’ solution for equipment powered by other makes of engine. The first model, the 6.5hp Vanguard

203cc, will be available this year, with the remaining engines, ranging from 5hp to 13hp, will be introduced over the next two years. During the Show, Briggs & Stratton announced that Vanguard has become the title

sponsor of Team Bottrill, a UK-based amateur cycling team. The company says that the partnership is built around shared principles of power, and the harnessing of it to increase productivity.
