EXECUTIVE HIRE SHOW REVIEW
Seen at the Show
With a record-breaking 195 exhibitors, this year’s Show saw the launch of many products targeted at hire fleets. EHN reviews up some of the highlights.
WernerCo’s podium Pod
The new Boss Pod from WernerCo is a compact, heavy-duty podium for low-level access. Designed for one-man handling, it has no removable parts and folds flat for storage. Pivoting stabilisers are incorporated to enable use close to walls and in corners, and the unit has ‘anti-surf’ characteristics. The Pod conforms to the
BS8620:2016 standard and includes an integrated ladder,
with a toe board available as an option. The unit is available with platform heights of 0.95m, 1.13m or 1.45m.

Armorgard launched the Forma-Stor, a flat-pack safe storage cabinet that can be erected on-site and dismantled for transport without the need for special tools. It has been designed to meet relevant legislation for storing fuel and chemicals, such as CoSHH regulations, and can be used to protect general tools and equipment. Lifting eyes and fork skids are incorporated and it is available in four sizes. Also on show was the
Xtracta-bench, developed to protect workshop technicians from dust
hazards when servicing equipment. It functions as a normal workbench and incorporates outlets to enable connection to ‘air cube’ type filtering machines, which can be housed underneath.

Stihl’s new TS 440 cut-off saw incorporates the manufacturer’s QuickStop brake system that is designed to stop the machine in a fraction of a second if kickback occurs. The guard can also be adjusted to facilitate operation in awkward locations such as the bottom portions of walls, corners, and the underside of in-ground pipes, as well as for general construction related tasks. The TS 440
has two-stage belt drive for greater torque at the wheel, and also incorporates an easy-start mechanism, cyclonic air routing, and electronic water control. It is also protected by Datatag’s MicroCESAR scheme, a security marking system designed to deter theft.

New Era Fuels offers the Fuelbox which provides 20 litres of readily available red diesel in a container resembling a large wine box. The fuel contains an additive, ‘gas oil 10+’ to enable storage for up to two years, as well giving cleaner combustion. Making a colourful presence on
the company’s stand were new ‘Boxes’, based on the concept of offering fuels and related products in a convenient package that can be offered at the point of hire. These include the KeroseneBox, OilBox, Anti-FreezeBox and AdBlueBox. New Era Fuels’ Carly Redington told EHN that, as the company owns and manages the processing plant used to make the product, it can easily add new lines to the range and can offer delivery of pallets of the Boxes in mixed quantities.
