InnovatIon traIl: Eco

GroundGuards The new FastCover PLUS system enables safe walkways to be created, with clearly defined two metre

spacings. These walkways can be for one-way flow, or have designated passing places, or even be configured as separate lanes for continuous pedestrian flows in opposite directions. The mats have interlocking lugs, which positively connect together to provide secure walkways

without trip hazards on uneven ground. The mats weigh just 14.5kg each and are made in the UK from100% recycled PVC. Inbuilt hand holes means they are easy to handle. FastCover PLUS mats are suitable for year-round outdoor use and a wide range of portable surface applications, including marquees, military shelters, or temporary surface protection for block paving or interior floors during construction projects.

Husqvarna The Husqvarna K1 PACE battery cutter enables operators to perform tasks unencumbered by cords or the

need for fuel, and without producing any emissions at site. With a simple pushbutton start, there is instantly enough power for the specially designed 300 and 350mm diamond blades to cut through rock-hard materials such as concrete slabs, pipes and cinder blocks, while an integrated wet cutting system and a VAC attachment ensure that harmful dust is kept under control at all times. The K1 PACE features a low weight magnesium blade guard and an X-Halt brake function, which stops

blade rotation in fractions of a second. The high power battery is designed with Active Cooling tech to enable fast charging, and built-in connectivity allows users to stay abreast of runtime and service status. Wireless updates for the machine further optimise convenience and productivity.

JCB The new 525-60e compact telehandler is part of JCB’s ongoing E-Tech range, offering zero emissions,

lower noise and no compromise in terms of performance. The new machine is quiet in operation, making it highly suitable for use in urban areas, indoors, out- of-hours operations and sensitive environments. The noise reduction also allows for improved communications on site. The 525-60e is powered by a 24kWh lithium-ion battery, enabling a day’s work and a lift full height lift capacity of 2000kg – JCB’s Adaptive Load Control system prevents the machine from tipping forward during heavy load handling. Meanwhile, optional LiveLink telematics employ satellite technology to provide real-time data on machine location, performance, security and servicing requirements. Other features include a built-in charger with lead, a spacious cab and a heated air suspension seat.

Makita The HR006G cordless rotary hammer is the latest machine to make use of Makita’s XGT batteries – two of them, in fact, offering 80V of

performance. The substantial unit produces 21.4 Joules of impact energy, although a built-in vibration absorber moves in the opposite direction to the drive piston ensuring that vibrations at the main handle are just 8.5m/s². The HR006G features active feedback sensing technology,

turning the motor off if bit rotation is suddenly stopped. Other features include Bluetooth connectivity with compatible vacuums, twin LED job lights, variable speed control and an assortment of additional accessories for use during dust extraction and hammering. It is more powerful than conventional equipment, producing up to 2250 blows per minute and drilling up to 27% faster on a full battery charge.

Messersi S.p.A The TC50-e/TC120-e battery tracked carriers from Messersi weigh just 600/900kg, yet offer emission-

free performance exceeding their modest dimensions. Powered by lithium-ion batteries with integrated charging, the machines offer the same performance

as their diesel engine stablemates, although perhaps commanding four or five times more in terms of rental rates. Since batteries require less maintenance than traditional engines, service costs are 60% lower, filter maintenance is 65% lower and energy costs can be reduced by as much as 75%.
