The equipment is manufactured in Italy, which is probably advantageous in terms of lead times. Even so, has this presented any problems in the last year or so?
“We’re ordering two or three months in advance at the moment. Also, because there’s not a massive market for tracked dumpers, there aren’t as many problems with supply. The main problems for us are transport and post-Brexit customs. It certainly costs us a lot more money to bring equipment in now.”
The C&F brand is just a small but growing part of the the wider UK business, but how much potential is there? Philip Oldham picks up the question.
“Roberto Capone, who designs the equipment, is quite ambitious. He’s talking about attachments, and there are other dumpers in the C&F range that we can go after. I think the UK market for this sort of machinery can only grow so much. We’ve been lucky, in that we entered a market where there was a demand, so the trick for
us will be retaining customers who have bought our machines. I think we’d be happy selling 100 dumpers a year.”
Finally, and as mentioned, C&F UK has been to the Executive Hire Show before, although that was more of a test than a fully-fledged launch. What are the expectations this time around? Philip Oldham again:

Aside from C&F equipment, the wider businesses also includes Takeuchi plant sales.
“We didn’t get an awful lot out of the Executive Hire Show three years ago, but the product wasn’t quite where we wanted it to be and we were just dipping a toe into the water. This time should be a lot busier because we have 11 appointed dealers and their customers, the Italians are coming along and we’ve got a bit more budget to spend. We’re proud of our range and our
machines really do offer features that others don’t. Success will be seeing how well the products have been received.”
