AT THE

HEART OF HIRE

S T R E N G T H O N S H O W

If anyone had doubts about the prospects for our industry for the year ahead, they only need to read this bumper 96-page issue of Executive Hire News to quell any anxieties. While no-one can accurately forecast the future, the indications are that hire is strong and in good health.

The empirical evidence is that hirers are busy and so are their customers. Starting on page 25, our article on Artisan Hire (which was an Executive Hire Show Passionate Hirer Award Winner last year) shows that the company continues to grow, having opened its eighth depot and re-located another to larger premises to meet demand.

As Director Jason King tells us, “customers have a lot of work on. When interest rates went up in November, none of them mentioned it when making conversation at the hire desk.” Similarly, in our article on Fakenham Tool & Equipment Hire beginning on page 45, the Directors report that much building work is under way in their region

of East Anglia, “creating a lot of business for local tradesmen, who represent the majority of our customer base.”

In our news coverage, starting over the page, the upbeat mood continues. Midlands-based WHC Hire Services (a Passionate Hirer Award Winner in 2013, incidentally) has officially opened its third depot and is expanding its fleet, while, further north, Fairfax Plant Hire, which has two depots in Yorkshire, has re-located its Selby headquarters to a larger site to meet unprecedented demand. Fairfax Director Mark Love reports, “It is an excellent start to the New Year and puts us well on the way to our target of growing the business substantially this year.”

There’s good news for suppliers, too. All of the hirers mentioned have been steadily expanding their fleets and introducing new product lines, and will continue to do so. As Mark Love states, “We have already identified some of the additional products we will be ordering.”

Happy New Year! S H O W O F S T R E N G T H

For hirers looking ahead positively to the opportunities in the coming year and considering new fleet additions, there is simply no better place to find them than at the Executive Hire Show. Established as the event where Passionate Hirers Meet Innovative Suppliers, it will again take place on 7 and 8 February at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry.

The major exhibition in our industry’s calendar continues to go from strength to strength, with what is shaping up to be a record number of exhibitors, many of which will be at the Show for the first time. Our Show Preview begins on page 53 and, together with the dedicated Exhibitor Profiles throughout this issue, we have details of no fewer than 129 new products that will be unveiled - and that is just a selection of those that we could fit into this issue. Many more will await you to inspect when you visit. There are also 18 suppliers with products on the Innovation Trail that you can follow around the Show, selected for their ‘hireability’.

Do check them out on page 34 - they could help give your business a competitive edge. And as an exciting new dimension, our judging panel of hirers have selected ten of these products as being particularly outstanding, to go forward into Innovation Trail - Live. This will take place on a special stage in the lower Hall 2 - which has established itself as a valuable addition to the Show space, attracting key brands.

Representatives from each Innovation Trail - Live supplier will discuss their cutting-edge products in ‘live’ interviews taking place throughout the Show.

Starting on page 15, a number of hirers tell us why they are looking forward to the Show, and the benefits they get for their businesses from attending. Make sure you don’t miss out - it really will be time well spent. Register now at www.executivehireshow.com.

See you there!
