EXECUTIVE HIRE SHOW PREVIEW continued

Sumner’s storage solutions

Sumner Manufacturing will introduce its parent company Southwire’s range of job site storage solutions, encompassing piano boxes, compact chests, weld boxes, cable handling solutions, stacking storage containers and mobile work stations. They are made from 14g and 16g powder-coated steel to withstand rough handling. The piano boxes and compact chests are designed for handling by forklift, or can be wheeled around site with optional casters fitted. The larger speciality boxes are designed to store bigger and some models can double up as a mobile office. The cable cart and stacking storage range includes the original Sumner Mac-branded carts, plus

B15 & H162 STANDS Southwire Wire Wagons and mobile work station. The Mac line-up of stacking carts and containers have also been re-engineered as knock-down assemblies to facilitate transport.

Quick crimping from Klauke

Klauke UK reports that more hire companies are adding portable crimping and cutting equipment for users in the electrical termination market. Its Next- Generation models are built to withstand severe environments

and utilise 5.0Ah batteries. An LED display allows pressures, battery life and user profiles to be directly read from equipment, while data transfer for QA (quality assurance) certification is achieved via a new app linking a smartphone or tablet using Bluetooth. The line-up includes models for cutting steel-armoured power cables

in copper and aluminium up to 105mm diameter, crimping tools from 6mm2

up to 630mm2 tray cutters and hydraulic bolt cutters. Thwaites to celebrate 80 years STAND B47

Old and new will be placed side by side on the Thwaites stand. The dumper maker will be celebrating 80 years of UK manufacturing at the Show, and visitors will be able to see - and even sit on - the very first machine produced, alongside the company’s latest models. The evolution of the brand has seen it develop from an agricultural innovator in the 1930s, to a business that supported the rebuilding of Britain in

the late 1940s, with the invention and production of the first dumper to enter the UK market. It first targeted the plant hire sector in the mid-1960s as the industry began to flourish. The line-up now

encompasses models ranging from the compact 0.3-tonne Micro through to the 9-tonne cabbed model, scheduled for official launch in early 2018.
