Majestic merchandise O

n February 6 this year the Queen became the first British monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee, marking 70 years of service – which is a long time on the throne for anyone.

The centrepiece of the celebrations is over the special long bank holiday weekend at the beginning of June but the whole year is one to mark the service of our longest lasting monarch.

It goes without saying that there will be parties and commemorative events, and therefore there will be merchandise. The official emblem for the Jubilee was released last year and was designed by 19-year-old graphic design student Edward Roberts, from Nottinghamshire. His design was selected as the winning entry of Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Emblem Competition, run in conjunction with the V&A Museum.

It can be used for free on all official merchandise commemorating The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, and across digital and social media.

Platinum promo products There are plenty of products out there already. As befits a time for street parties with tea and cakes, Eat My Logo has created a range of high quality and carefully assembled treats, branded with the official emblem. The product selections are based on the UK’s love of all things baked and are available in flexible quantities, from just 30 units to thousands.

The products include shortbread Jubilee biscuits, Jubilee cupcakes comprised of vanilla sponge, flavoured frosting and a printed icing topper, and Jubilee brownies portioned into perfect square bites. They can even be branded up with a corporate brand as well as the Jubilee emblem. Bite My Brand has also got on board with printed Union Jack themed paper bags filled with great British themed sweets. Sweets include red and blue penny lollies, sterling milk chocolate coins and mini chew bars in the flavours of classic British puddings.

Your logo can be printed on the sticker to promote your support during the Jubilee, and they are available in two sizes to suit most budgets.

It’s not just tasty treats that can be used to celebrate the Jubilee though. Promo Collection has a whole catalogue of themed merchandise to fly the flag for Her Majesty. It has everything from drinkware and picnic items to alcohol drink accessories, hats and cuddly toys. Get celebrating!

Elsewhere, plush toys are up for grabs in abundance in the shape of Mr Swizzels, the animated star of the TV ads for the iconic sweet brand. The cuddly sweetmaker has been brought to life as a toy to be used as a prize for a massive giveaway.

Sweet eaters can win a trip to Swizzels sweet factory to see how their favourite confections are created. They just have to find one of five Golden Sweethearts that have been hidden in packs out there in the sweetshops of Britain.

On top of that there are 10,000 Mr Swizzels toys to be won by entering codes online for a prize draw. What a welcome return for this promotional mainstay.

Creative ideas

Another creative idea comes to us courtesy of balloon specialist B-Loony. It turns out the company does more than balloons, and its latest idea is smart and sustainable.

It’s a new portable, recyclable cardboard phone holder, because nobody wants to carry a traditional phone holder with them.

This month, promotional products commentator, Stuart Derrick, takes a look at merchandise designed for Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee.

The slim, lightweight nature of the product makes it ideal for travel as if folds down flat. Take it with you to the office, coffee shop, restaurant or on an airplane. It’s made from sustainably sourced engineered card which is widely recycled and is manufactured in the UK. As a low cost giveaway, it’s hard to beat.

As we enter the summer period, there will inevitably be drinking involved as we get back into pubs.

Another low-cost item that it great for promotions is the humble coaster, and one that can be used as a clever piece of marketing is even smarter. The thermocolor coaster is a customisable promotional product in coaster shape with an area that reacts to low temperatures and shows a hidden message. It is ideal for the food, beverage and tourism fields.

A hidden message appears simply by placing the glass, can or bottle of a drink taken from the refrigerator because its sensitive area reacts to low temperatures. It is an innovative and somewhat magical promotional solution that will involve your customers in a surprising way. Made in Italy by IPS, it is 100% customisable. Finally, this month, they say that the first cut is the deepest – and baby, I know – but you can at least be prepared with a handy reuseable plastic bandage box containing sterile first aid plasters. A card insert is printed on one side with your artwork in full colour, making this a very handy item for any health and wellbeing promotion and ideal for all outdoor activities and sporting events goody bags.
