P&P LIVE! 2022 Review

On leaving TheMagicTouch’s stand if you made your way to the front of the hall you would have found another DTF solution on the YES Group stand. The DTG Q Series is a hybrid DTG and DTF printer. It prints 100% inline with white and colour inks in just one pass and is designed to produce high volume, low cost printed garments. It is built with an automatic vacuum platen for speed loading and patented white ink flush system. A first for DTG Digital, this printer also prints onto film, making the DTG Q Series a true hybrid, converting to DTF without changing inks or platens producing high quality transfers instantly. Other stands where you would have found a variety of differing DTF options included J&B Sewing Machine Co, Amaya Sales UK, MHM Direct GB, AXZYRA, Xpres, Global Print Solutions and Indie Ink.

And finally, you may be familiar with direct to film, but have you heard of direct to paper? tranSMART by DTB Europe is a new innovation in the world of transfers. DTB Europe has been offering tranSMART as an option to customers for several years, but with the rise of direct to film decided to bring the product to market this year. The transfers are printed onto paper, with the waste product being FCS approved paper and not a polyester film, so it can be fully recycled. It also has a quicker press time reducing energy consumption and efficiency for the end user.

PRINT EQUIPMENT…

The fields of direct to garment printing, screen printing and transfer printing all saw new product releases at P&P LIVE! Five popular and new-to-the-market bits of kit were on display on the Roland DG stand this year. But perhaps the highlight was the newly launched TrueVIS SG3-300. The printer/cutter means users can produce anything from custom T shirts to personalised bags with a reliable heat transfer printing solution. Also, something of an attraction to visitors on stand was the Texart XT-640S-DTG, a multi-station direct to garment printer. It uses a unique sliding baseplate and jig design to print durable, full-colour designs directly onto a wide range of garments of different sizes to allow for maximum versatility and customisation, especially on short production runs.

system and shaking powder system, to improve the stability of the machine and make the machine more efficient. Just over the aisle from Midwest Machinery was TheMagicTouch. Two options were on display on stand for visitors to take a look at; the R-Jet PRO DTF and the Mutoh/STS VJ-628D printer.

The R-Jet PRO DTF transfers produce vibrant images with no requirement for pre-treatment, while the Mutoh/STS VJ-628D printer, is based on Mutoh’s proven Valuejet 628 8-channel printer chassis and Epson industrial print head. Jim Nicol, managing director of TheMagicTouch, commented: “Printwear & Promotion LIVE! was the perfect platform to introduce the new DTF technology.”

| 24 | June 2022

Not far away from Roland DG, MHM Direct GB was busy showcasing two new products on stand. First up was the Brother GTX600, a direct to garment printer designed specifically for mass production. The printer features ink recirculation in four key areas, a built-in humidifier, increased print speed, increased auto cleaning frequency and reduced ink wastage. Independent consultant, John Potter, commented that during the exhibition lots of new GTX customers joined the Brother family. Also on stand was the new Schulze Pretreatmaker 5 – the first outing in the UK for this machine. It is equipped with scales monitoring each tank and automated set-up, shutdown and maintenance procedures. Towards the centre of the hall on the Amaya Sales UK stand, the Kornit Atlas MAX received its exhibition debut. Released to the market in 2021, this direct to garment printer features XDi, a feature which delivers 3D capabilities for new, high-density graphic decoration that can simulate embroidery, vinyl, and heat transfer.
