Charlotte Westwood: First, congratulations Batman: Gotham City Escape won Best Roller Coaster of the Year at the Park World Excellence Awards! Can you start role in the creation of this amazing coaster?
Thank you so
much! We’re very proud of this one. It was developed by P&P Projects in a complete design-build fashion. From the main entrance to the exit through the gift shop and the attraction’s surrounding area, the P&P team was the lead creative partner in bringing this new experience at Parque Warner to life. This process started with the creation of the ride’s initial concept and the storyline that is woven throughout the entire attraction and its direct environment in the park – we did this in collaboration with DC Comics and Warner Bros. Once this concept was established, the entire design development was taken care of by P&P Projects: concept design, schematic design, technical design, graphic design, character design, ride vehicle design, and so on. Following the completion of the design phase, our team was responsible for the full- scale production of everything thematic about the attraction’s experience: show sets, theming elements, props, graphics, figures, audio, video, lighting, music and special effects.

This included all facades that make the attraction and its surrounding area – Wayne Manor, ACE Chemical Shop, the Gotham City Subway and the facades in the nearby Robinson Park. After completion of production, all elements, sets and show pieces were installed on site by the P&P team.

Then, all of a sudden, guests are locked in the room by the Joker; the arch-villain plans to hold the visitors hostage and strike them with an attack of laughing gas that is quickly filling the room. Batman comes to the rescue as he takes over the communication system and directs guests through a secret passage hidden in the bookshelves of the library.
