adame Tussauds Blackpool has launched a brand- new wax figure of Queen Elizabeth II, and it is accompanied by a very regal aroma. Making guests’ special meeting with Her Majesty all the more immersive, this fragrance is based on flowers which are important to the Queen and her history. AromaPrime, which creates aromas for historic palaces and attractions, is responsible for the scent, which has been named Palace Breeze. A dominant note is lily of the valley, which was an important feature in Queen Elizabeth’s coronation bouquet, as well as being one of her favourite flowers. Other ingredients include hints of azaleas (a favourite of Prince Edward’s), and even the Tudor rose. The purpose of diffusing this elegant air is for guests to feel as if they really have just stepped into Buckingham Palace, and that they are in the presence of royalty – so much so that they can breathe it in! The Queen’s figure has been created in minute detail by Madame Tussauds Blackpool’s talented team, making it truly up-to-date. Back in June, YouTuber Dan TDM’s figure was also launched, alongside the custom aroma Eau de Gamer. The huge success with which this helped guests feel closer to their favourite celebrity is what inspired the creation of a scent for the Queen’s new figure.

Liam R. Findlay, Scent Consultant at AromaPrime, said: “This is a soft, sweet and dazzling aroma, inspired by the elegance of Buckingham Palace and Her Majesty the Queen. Our scent receptors are connected to the part of the brain which processes emotions; we designed this scent so that when guests take a sniff, they will feel relaxed, as if standing in a beautiful Royal palace. Because of how our minds remember scents, the inclusion of a scent with the Queen will mean guests may well remember this special meeting for decades to come, just like a smell can take you straight back to your childhood!” Stuart Jarman, General Manager at Madame Tussauds Blackpool, said: “Scent takes the experience of meeting a famous figure to a whole new level of realism, and we are excited to include this sophisticated technique at our attraction.”

As the summer holidays came to an end, Efteling, the fairytale theme park in the south of Holland, began adjustments to the Reizenrijk area of the park. Two new attractions Sirocco and Archipel are currently being created opposite the indoor roller coaster Vogel Rok, and will be ready in just a few months’ time. The new attractions will be themed Sindbad the Sailor, from the Tales of 1001 Nights. The indoor roller coaster Vogel Rok already represents elements of the seven sea voyages of Sindbad the Sailor. Opposite this attraction, in the corner of the Reizenrijk area, the World of Sindbad theme is now being expanded with the two new attractions. Archipel is an exciting adventure island where young explorers can play and discover. At Sirocco, visitors will board a merchant’s boat and experience a dizzying adventure when a whirlwind starts up at sea. Since the beginning of September, the building site opposite Vogel Rok has changed dramatically. First, the spinning cauldrons and the maze from the former attractions were removed. Then the existing pond has been expanded to create Archipel and a roof was covered with new reeds for the new attraction Sirocco. This month, a number of large trees will be planted, greenery put in place and in the spring of 2022, the remaining planting will follow in the vicinity of the two attractions. Both attractions are undergoing new theming, so that this winter, visitors will really feel as if they are in the World of Sindbad when in the eastern area of the park.
