Waterpark Profile

When the Mack Family and Europa- Park announce a new project, the theme park world pays attention, when they announce an entire new indoor water park, the pressure is on. Amusement industry consultant Marcus Gaines, reports

drew the world’s media, and the scale of the project meant members of the German government were in attendance to celebrate the occasion. RULANTICA at its heart is a Nordic themed water park

I

with nine separately themed areas. It’s very much aimed at families rather than white knuckle thrill seekers, but having said that a number of the 17 water slides are still pretty thrilling. Arriving at the entrance lobby, themed in keeping with the

adjacent hotel KRØNASÅR – THE MUSEUM-HOTEL, which also opened in 2019, guests check in for their day in the water park. Each guest is issue with a Rula band. The Rula band acts as your contactless admission ticket, locker key and contactless payment during your stay. Once upstairs guests find themselves in the large smart

changing areas, with 3,500 lockers available you won’t have too much trouble storing your belongings. Now the

n December 2019, the resort’s biggest single investment debuted to the public, with the grand opening of RULANTICA. The opening ceremony

impressive bit, stepping through to the water park guests can’t help but be wowed by the view overlooking the park, especially at night when all lit up. Heading downstairs it’s time to explore, and get lost, as

you discover what’s on offer. As a clue, the main water slides can be found at the far edges of the park, with the central area taken up by the wave pool, lazy river, and water playgrounds. Lumafals dominates the park as the Surf Fjord wave pool

takes centre stage. One of the most impressive aspects of the pool is the large LED video wall that fills your view of the end it. With animations of mermaids and mermen families can’t

help but feel immersed in the underwater world as they swim amongst the waves.

Vinterhal is a frozen land offering the most

adventurous waterslides and really needs to be explored, as some of the slides are quite hidden and tricky to find. There’s an eclectic mix of attractions from ProSlide with the most visible being Vinter Rytt, a Tornado Wave wall slide. Vinter Rytt was one of the most challenging slides to get approval for, unlike anything else in Germany, the government took their time and needed a lot of evidence to grant permission for it to be built. Joining Vinter Rytt is the 4 person rafting slide Svalgur Rytt, Stormvind a 2 person CannonBOWL and Tva Fall a two person tube slide. Isbrekker is two slides side by side that start with a fast straight slide before sending you flying through the air to splash down in to the water 1.5m below.
