Maurer’s new ride vehicle allows riders to control acceleration and braking for the ultimate racing experience. Park World editor Bryony Andrews demonstrates…

Ready to race? M

otorcyle manufacturer Ducati and Italian theme park Mirabilandia have laid the first stone of Ducati World inside the Ravenna park, solidifying the collaboration announced last November.

Ducati World is touted to span 35,000 metres-squared inside of Mirabilandia, making it the first themed area in the world inspired by a motorcycle brand. Inside the new area will be a racing-inspired roller coaster, created by Maurer Rides, which simulates a ride on a Panigale V4 sport bike. Riders will be able to control vehicle acceleration and braking via a throttle grip, making each ride an authentic head-to-head between bikes running along two parallel rails.

The ride’s design is based on the Maurer Spike roller coaster system, which enabled planners to create a track and ride elements free of common coaster energy obstacles. Spike Racing also received the IAAPA Best Product Award in 2017. To enhance the ride vehicles, original components from the Ducati Panigale V4 have been integrated into the design – striking lights on the vehicle’s front, fuel tank, windscreen, and taillights have all been reproduced. The area will also host a facility entirely dedicated to the Ducati Experience, with latest-generation ride simulators, family attractions and a Ducati Shop offering apparel and accessories. Mirabilandia is the second largest theme park in Italy as well as the second most visited park in leisure park operator Parques Reunidos’ portfolio. Currently, Ducati World is expected to open to the public in 2019.

TEA SATE will come to Orlando in 2018, where the international conference brings bright minds and decision makers together from October 4-5. The TEA has announced the roster of honourees for the inaugural TEA

Masters Program, honouring masters of their craft in the global visitor attractions industry. The TEA Masters will be honoured on October 4, where they will also be presenters on an educational panel. Guests will be able to attend a number of conferences curated by key

industry members, including discussions on utilising tech to tell stories, how to incorporate natural elements into a park, the secrets of strong leadership, and what developers really want from a design partner. SATE Asia meanwhile, takes place October 25-28 at Chimelong, with the

theme “Collaboration is the key to successful projects”. To promote the idea that the best guest experiences are created by multidisciplinary teams working together under a strong leader, the conference will include question-and-answer sessions, moderated panels, and a visit to Chimelong Park. Speakers will share technology developments, architecture insights, and

other topics of discussion will include: how to use tried and true methods for effective storytelling regardless of location, bringing IP’s to life in new markets, adapting to cultural requirements for clients and locations, and building the right project teams.
