J

une 21 saw the celebrated opening of new family- friendly indoor waterpark resort Great Wolf Lodge Illinois, located in the Lake County town of Gurnee.

Formerly named Key Lime Cove, the facility reflects the new generation of Great Wolf Lodge, with a more contemporary design and wide variety of activities (both inside and outside of the water park) designed to appeal to both children and parents. Murray Hennessy, chief executive officer of Great Wolf

Resorts, Inc, explains that Great Wolf Lodge Illinois blends together tried and true family favorites with several updated

attractions and amenities recently introduced at its newer properties. An expanded 80,000 square foot (7,432 sq m) water park forms the central attraction, joining two new family slides, a large wave pool, new toddler water play area and an outdoor oasis with a pool and cabanas. Additional new experiences include the Great Wolf Adventure Park, a 40,000 square foot (3,716 sq m) family entertainment centre with a ropes course, climbing wall, an arcade and eight different eateries.

Wiley’s Water Park The centrepiece of the resort is Wiley’s Water Park, with indoor water pool designed by Neuman Pools, perfectly heated to an ideal 84º F (29º C) and surrounded by water slides and attractions for children of all ages. Expanded to 80,000 square feet (7,432 sq m), Wiley’s

Water Park features signature Great Wolf Lodge water rides and attractions including a lazy river and activity pool. Slides include twisting tube slides, body slides and Coyote Canyon, a raft ride featuring a steep drop that plunges the guest into a double vortex. The water park also includes plenty of attractions for younger guests, with a dedicated zero-depth toddler pool filled with age-appropriate slides and water features, and Fort Mackenzie, a multi-level interactive water fort with the resort’s iconic tipping bucket.
