In an agreement signed at the Euro Attractions Show in Amsterdam last month, Wiegand.maelzer licensed leading manufacturer of waterpark attractions WhiteWater West to manufacture the SlideWheel. WhiteWater leaders were impressed with the Slide Wheel after visiting long-time WhiteWater client, Chimelong. “Bringing rides with iconic value to our clients is what WhiteWater is all about,” said WhiteWater CEO Geoff Chutter. “This is the most visually compelling ride in the water park industry today.” “Our partnership with WhiteWater signals a

The ride starts with a quick push of the start conveyor into

the first section of the ride. Still close to the rotational axis, the first few seconds give riders time to experience the inside of the SlideWheel until a speed lane pulls them towards the lowest point where they swing back and forth, experiencing a beautiful zero-gravity feeling. The SlideWheel keeps turning to eventually send them off into the next speed lane. During five alternations of speed and swing sections, riders experience a wonderful mix of impressions paired with a riveting loss of orientation. Magically, after 90 seconds in the SlideWheel, the bright sunlight appears at the exit and another ride through the 30- second-long Big River sends each group back to the landing pool at ground level, passing close by the rotating SlideWheel.

An experience like no other The dynamic and unique motion of the SlideWheel creates the illusion that the ride is more than twice as long as its 130 metre length. A 2.7 metre diameter allows for the use of large 4- person rafts and shared enjoyment, combining sliding, swinging, rotating, up and down and back and forth movements. A key advantage of the SlideWheel is that it fits on a

relatively small space. It can be built indoors or outdoors, and combined with many other attractions, so that the ride can potentially continue into another thrilling ride after the SlideWheel.

broader collaboration on product innovations,” noted Rainer Maelzer, CEO of Wiegand Maelzer, “and this helps move our industry forward with the expertise and resources we both possess. Being an industry leader, WhiteWater is a valued partner for us to access markets around the globe.”

Interestingly, the speed of the SlideWheel can also be adjusted. Whilst the normal speed is appropriate for all ages, the operator has the option of having a family-focused day, or focussing more on the thrill factor. Guests must be a minimum of 1.40 metres in height to ride. “Every day, more and more guests are experiencing the SlideWheel,” says Spiller. “The response is brilliant. People are amazed by an entirely new and unique experience.”
