A LOOK BACK – AND FORWARD Livespins Michael Pedersen, Chief Commercial Offi cer
The most exciting occurrence is undoubtedly the land-based gambling giants going on major shopping sprees as they look to buy their way into the online gaming space. In the US market in particular, we have seen multi-billion-dollar deals far surpass the largest acquisitions recorded in the European market to date – think DraftKings’ albeit failed $22bn Entain takeover bid. The standout deal for me was Caesars Entertainment coughing up £2.9bn to purchase William Hill in its entirety. Ultimately, they have only kept hold of Hill’s US business, selling its non-US assets to 888 Holdings for £2.2bn. This means they actually paid £700m for William Hill’s US division. To me, this shows the overall mindset and capital strength is totally different in the US than it is in Europe.
I genuinely believe that Livespins cracks the code when it comes to mixing gambling and social experiences. It takes a very simple (and
traditional) bet format, bet behind, and combines it with the sleek and modern world of streaming to deliver a player experience like no other. To me, it brings together the old and the new, the simple and the complex, and the result is magic. The potential for Livespins is insane, and throughout 2022 we will bring more operators onboard and continue to scale the business. The shift to casual gambling and more entertainment- focused, shared experiences will continue to gather pace. Look outside the gambling industry and this is already happening – on Disney+ you can now Group Watch a streamed movie together while being in separate homes and Apple wants you to use SharePlay to watch and listen to content together while using Facetime. The gambling sector is a little behind the curve but over the next 12 months will certainly catch up.
Salsa Technology Peter Nolte, CEO
In the summer Salsa Technology proudly revealed its revitalised corporate brand and website to reflect its 360° iGaming solution hub. The decision was made to neatly bring together the four core strands of Salsa’s business offering Salsa Omni, Salsa Gator, Salsa Studio and Salsa Solutions. The new brand encapsulates us as a business and the ways in which partners benefit from our localised knowledge and unrivalled experience. SiGMA Europe gave us the chance to showcase the new brand within a live environment for the first time. The reception was fantastic and vindicated the decision to undertake the rebranding project. The event also provided us an opportunity to catch-up with current clients and meet new ones as a number have joined the Salsa portfolio across the past year. This face-to- face success was replicated at the debut Brazilian iGaming Summit where Salsa played a prominent role exhibiting and offering insight on several key panels. Mexico is another vital market in LatAm and Salsa was able to share unique knowledge on how best to succeed in the region at the country’s Affiliate Summit LatAm. Salsa Studio has released several localised LatAm titles that

have proved an instant success. Games such as Melcochita Video Bingo joined the rich localised portfolio with other gems like Cuca’s Swamp Bingo and Jogo dos Bichos Praia. Work has continued relentlessly on making the platform as innovative as possible to ensure our partners receive the very best service. Our unrivalled knowledge of the local behavioural nuances across LatAm has enabled us to deliver an exceptional user experience.
Looking to 2022 and a major milestone is on the horizon when we finalise the MGA B2B licence. ICE London will quickly follow where we will be revealing more about the game release roadmap and LatAm developments. Focus will be on implementing our expansion strategy in countries such as Argentina and Colombia. Salsa will also be featuring at other key iGaming events across Europe and the US. Regulation is still the hot topic as eyes remain fixed on Brazilian developments. As soon as the country is open, we’ll be one of the first to obtain the necessary certifications. Salsa has developed a software for managing operators that meets local requirements and we’ll be presenting this to Secap in the near future.
