Focus on Sustainable Products HP Consider the entire production process
In order to provide sustainable printed products, print service providers (PSPs) must consider the entire production process; 80% of environmental impact is determined at the early design stage. If you get it wrong at the start, you won’t be able to recover it later. Hardware choice can play a major role in sustainability; working with technology such as HP Latex offers you an effective route to environmentally friendly production. All HP Latex printers run water-based inks, which have much less impact on the environment than other ink types as they do not contain any hazardous air pollutants (HAPs). HP Latex also allows users to print on all manner of substrates; and this can be key when it comes to long-term sustainability goals. To achieve these targets, an obvious point is to design your products with materials certified as sustainable, but also to make this clear to clients so they are aware and can promote this to their own customers. In terms of what materials to work with, there are lots of quality alternatives to traditional products. PVC-free solutions offer the same qualities as PVC but without the same environmental impact, while some materials can also be 100% recycled after their end of life.
It is important to speak with supply chain partners to ensure they can meet your and your customers’ sustainable requirements, as well as review your production methods to see where improvements can be made.

On top of this, consider how you package and deliver products. Look at changing the materials you use for packing; this could be simply switching from plastic wraps and tapes to paper-based packaging.
Then there is end of use recycling; look at refurbishing opportunities with applications and consider differing recycling opportunities. HP customers have additional support here through the HP Planet Partners scheme. This allows HP users to return and recycle original HP inkjet and LaserJet supplies, as well as any brand of computer hardware and rechargeable batteries.

Soyang Europe Increasing importance placed on sustainability
Soyang has an ongoing partnership with Reconomy
The team at Soyang Europe has witnessed a marked increase in demand for more environmentally friendly materials. simply by changing the materials they work with. Opting for more sustainable products can have a major effect on the overall environmental impact of a print job, and this can then be passed down to the client and their own customers. Soyang Europe offers a range of environmentally friendly materials to the market. These include a collection of PVC-free banner and PVC-free mesh products, both of which offer the same qualities of PVC materials but with far less impact on the planet.
For customers working in the printed textiles market, Soyang also provides a range of SoTex recycled textiles that are manufactured using 100% recycled polyester. Solutions in the SoTex collection include products suitable for producing flags, displays and backlit applications. In addition to this, Soyang Europe offers various PVC self-adhesive vinyl materials from Decal. Much like the SoTex range, this portfolio includes solutions designed
for creating certain pieces. Products include permanent adhesive vinyl, permanent bubble-free adhesive vinyl, removable adhesive vinyl, and removable bubble-free adhesive vinyl.
Customers who choose to work with Soyang Europe will also benefit from the company’s ongoing partnership with Reconomy, an international circular economy specialist that supports our wider recycling efforts. Through this initiative, Reconomy provides customers with a baler to prepare their waste, with Soyang Europe then collecting the bales when delivering new products to customers. This waste is then taken to Soyang’s facility in Altham, Lancashire ready for bulk collection and transportation to a recycling facility for processing. Soyang very much values sustainability just as much as its customers.
