FWD Motion all set for sustainable growth with new Fujifilm Acuity Prime from Soyang Hardware
F
ully integrated creative agency FWD Motion has disclosed how its recent purchase of a Fujifilm Acuity Prime LED UV flatbed printer from Soyang Hardware has allowed it to bring in new work and customers by offering a more sustainable printing service.
Having looked at several UV straight- to-board printers, FWD Motion identified the Fujifilm Acuity Prime as the most effective solution.
David Whitely, director of FWD Motion, said: “With our new Fujifilm Prime UV, we can print directly to board with non- toxic inks – eliminating the need for non-recyclable vinyl and laminates. Most importantly, the printer enables us to print over old artwork, so out-of-date
for a popular live escape games room, upcycling existing signage and producing a sustainable POS and exhibition stand. Mr Whitely added: “The investment allows us to be more sustainable and competitive when it comes to large format print.

The machine has already been put to work on a range of projects. Including, printing directly onto MDF wall panels
“We have won several tenders since investing in the Fujifilm Acuity Prime. We plan on striving for more tenders so we can expand our capabilities and push the limits of what eco-friendly materials can be printed onto and how they can become reliable alternatives to single-use print products.
“Working with Soyang has ensured a seamless experience for the integration of our printer. Their team has helped us significantly with training and maintenance.”
Investment in HP hybrid machines for two printers C
reative studio and print house, FYI, and commercial printer, John Good, have both recently invested in HP Latex R2000 printers.
These investments allow both printers to significantly increase capacity and offer more flexibility to a wider client base. For example, John Good has moved into the construction industry by now offering polycarbonate panels to clients within this market. The hybrid machine – which can print onto a wide range of both rigid and flexible substrates – has a top printing speed of 86m sq/hr in outdoor quality mode. With a 2.5m maximum printing width, the HP Latex R2000 can
print in seven colours: black, cyan, light cyan, light magenta, magenta, white, and yellow.
Tom Buxey, director of FYI, said: “We felt the HP Latex R2000 gave us the best value for the budget we had. We loved the hybrid setup and the ease of switching between rigid and roll substrates. “It’s dramatically increased our capacity just in time for our peak season during the summer, which has allowed us to keep up with demand and turnaround requirements, which are always tight with customers.”
John Good’s commercial manager, Steve Bubb, added: “The machine has had a huge impact on our operations.

We did not anticipate the vast range of products the printer would enable us to produce, and it has won us work from clients in markets we had not previously explored.”
