Sign & Digital UK Review Thoughts on the floor

To wrap up the Sign & Digital UK review, the Sign Update team went out to speak with visitors to find out firsthand their thoughts and experiences of the show. Below is just a taste of what visitors thought.

It’s been great to see all the different exhibitors that I haven’t had time with before,

particularly looking at how they are developing their technologies and how that is going to improve the way in which people work in the future. I am also looking forward to seeing one of my team talk about how we can support the sector,

which is what The Printing Charity does. There’s also been a session today, that talked about the type of support that’s available, and that’s really important that people hear about that. The sheer range of things here has been great too. The whole show is like walking through a

supermarket, it is quite amazing. With how varied the sector is, when you talk about print people think about something one dimensional, or very old fashioned, but you look around here and you think about the substrates and what people are printing on. The show is a real eye opener and asks the question of what technology is needed in the

future. – Neil Lovell, CEO of The Printing Charity

We’ve come to Sign & Digital to get an understanding of what’s on the market for laser

engravers. It’s been good to look at what it can be engraved on, the specifications that could be of use

too. The show is a great way to see products, as you don’t really know what is possible until you come and actually see it. And for us we do hard substrates and sublimation and its finding out how to go on a bigger

scale which is helpful to us. It’s great to see what we can do, as we work with hard substrates, as well as fabrics. Seeing

people using the machinery, and being willing you talk to you, is great too. They’ll also talk to you about what they are doing instead of selling to you at that moment.

They are just trying to get all the information across, which is nice. – Lauren Dorling, managing director, (R) and team at Podsmith

MS: We talked to a lot of people, especially HEXIS, who was talking about their training

course – which we’re definitely ging to look into, the displays have been good too. CM: We managed to get some new sample swatches we were out of date on some of

them, so that was good. As well as some of the tools which we didn’t have, and making use of what we did have in house. It’s quite nice to see some of the tools that are available at the marketplace that we didn’t know about. And coming to the show has definitely helped us identify those. MS: Talking to people that sell the products, as well as know how to use them, is helpful as they’re like this is how you use this and what to do with that, so it’s great to see that in-person instead of online. CM: It’s also some techniques as well, I think that sometimes you fall in to bad habits, so being here you can see new techniques and go ‘oh I can do it that way?’. It’s definitely a great show, it’s great to be here.
