BackLite UK and Wildstone unveils Wandsworth Roundabout revamp

B

ackLite UK has partnered with Wildstone to complete a full transformation of the iconic Wandsworth Roundabout site. Wildstone acquired the multi-screen structure, as part of the 13 prime OOH locations, from Transport for London early last year.

In July last year, it entered into a partnership that gave UAE-based Multiply Media Group (MMG) the exclusive right to operate 11 of these sites via its BackLite brand. The companies are now working together to upgrade these sites to support BackLite UK’s ambition to become the UK’s leading platform for luxury brand advertisers.

As well as refreshing the supporting structure, the refurbishment included the replacement of the site’s four digital screens.

The new displays were provided by Daktronics UK and involved the first UK installation of the company’s Premium Outdoor 10mm LED technology product line, which features Daktronics’s system health feature, an enhanced diagnostic system.

Andrew Foster, group partnerships director for Wildstone, said: “This project demonstrates the collaborative nature of the relationship between MMG/BackLite UK and Wildstone, with the parties working together on the transformation of this highly

recognisable site. We look forward to replicating this luxury revamp at our other sites that are operated by BackLite UK in the very near future.”

PPDS helps Institut Pasteur inject new display capabilities inside Paris HQ

Institut Pasteur EcoDesign P

PDS has announced that its Tableaux ePaper and 3000 Series EcoDesign digital signage displays have been selected to deliver visual capabilities to Institut Pasteur’s biomedical research campus in Paris. The project included a fleet of 20x dynamic displays all strategically placed

to support various needs. As the site is of historical significance and would need to meet Institut Pasteur’s strict standards for electrical safety and durability. Working with AV/IT integration specialists, Exaprobe, PPDS’ multi award winning ‘zero power’ 32in Philips Tableaux ePaper and 55in Philips Signage 3000 Series EcoDesign displays were immediately chosen.

The Philips Tableaux ePaper displays are fully portable and able to be used entirely unplugged – ideal for use in Institut’s older buildings and in spaces with limited power sources.

Signs Express Bristol landmarks artwork at Castle Park

S

igns Express Bristol, has teamed up with Akoje Gallery and artist Lucy Coates, to create a printed hoarding depicting public artwork near Castle Park, in the St. Mary Le Port area of Bristol. The permanent installation needed to showcase Bristol landmarks, reflect ideas for the local community, be a bold design that would last and to work within a busy city-centre location.

The intention was to create something permanent that local people could connect with.

Due to the size of the installation, the | 30 | March/April 2026

design had to be divided into sections, ensuring that each panel could be printed accurately but appear as one piece when installed.

Once the artwork files were finalised, production moved quickly, as the panels were printed off-site and then transported to the location, ready for installation.

The team at the Akoje Gallery said: “It’s been great working with Signs Express, with Ben in particular. They were super-efficient and arranged pretty much everything we needed. They were

also happy to speak with the council when required.”

Lucy Oates, artist for the project, said: “I’ve never done an artwork digitally to this scale before. The team helped me divide the design into sections and work out how it would all come together.”

For the larger displays, including for presentations and other internal communications, the Philips Signage 3000 Series EcoDesign was chosen for its 4K Ultra HD quality and its economical electricity usage. Franck Fromet, AV Manager, Institut Pasteur, commented: “The integration of our new Philips Professional Displays has enabled us to modernise our communication while respecting our environmental commitment. The PPDS teams understood our constraints and proposed a solution that is understated, elegant, and effective.”
