Installation News Reeds invests £200k in recent installation R

eeds has invested close to £200,000 in new production technology, led by the installation of an HP Latex R2000 hybrid flatbed printer and a Trotec laser cutter. The HP Latex R2000 enables production across rigid and roll media up to 2.5m wide, and installed in a purpose-built room at Reeds’ existing site, the printer allows the company to produce large-format graphics entirely in-house. The addition expands capacity across

POS, display, retail interiors and exhibition graphics, while reducing reliance on external suppliers. The R2000 combines hybrid flexibility across boards and flexible substrates with

at Reeds, said: “The R2000 gives us true hybrid capability at scale. We can now run

rigid boards and roll materials up to 2.5m wide on a single platform and keep more of that work in-house. It opens up new opportunities in POS and display while maintaining the quality and service our customers expect.” The water-based latex technology aligns with the company’s ISO 14001 environmental certification and supports indoor and retail-safe graphics production without solvent-based processes. Supported by £10K of funding through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and Rural England Prosperity Fund, the installation of the Trotec laser cutter, has bought precision cutting and engraving of acrylics, woods and coated metals in-house.

allowing switching between formats in a matter of minutes. Ty Power, owner for The Big Ink Tank,

said: “This flexibility is a nice bonus for us as it means we can handle the broadest possible range of work without too much hassle. “We make every effort to batch work and schedule our production appropriately but having that capability makes life even easier.” This was a major investment for The Big Ink Tank as it was the company’s first new wide-format printer having previously printed using a pre-owned inkjet printer from another manufacturer.

taken delivery of a new HP Latex R530 all-in-one printer to

strengthen production and improve its overall offering to customers. For nearly 10 years it had been running most of its print-based work on an HP Scitex FB550, until the business chose to upgrade it to the HP Latex R530. Anthony Tapley, joint managing director,

said: “We had been looking for the past few years for a similar alternative and couldn’t find anything until the HP Latex R530 was launched, and it was a no brainer to change over.” The new HP Latex R530 runs at a maximum speed of 24m sq/hr in indoor mode, and can print on a wide range of materials up to 1.6m wide and 5cm thick, opening up all manner of opportunities to users. Mr Tapley added: “We do not know what HP Latex technology will bring us in terms of new opportunities, but we are very open to future possibilities. At the minute, we are happy with the machines we have but are open to purchasing more HP Latex machines in the future.”
