Editor’s Letter I


’d like to start this issue’s editor’s letter by casting my mind back to February when I had the absolute pleasure of attending the very first Sign Industry Awards at the National Conference Centre in Birmingham.


As someone who was fairly new to the sign industry, it was not only a delight to see the industry come out in force to celebrate their peers’ achievements, but I learnt so much in the process. My eyes were opened to new terminology, methods and products. Much of which has since been put into practice.


Now the time has come to open entries for The Sign Industry Awards 2026. You can find more information about how to enter your business or project by turning to P36 or by visiting www.thesignindustryawards.co.uk. This really is your time to shine!


Next year’s fun-filled awards evening will take place on Monday, February 23 – it would be wonderful to see the industry come out in force once again! Tickets for the evening are on sale now.


Now back to this issue and what you can expect to find inside.


I was presented with the opportunity to interview FASTSIGNS UK managing director, John Davies, on the eve of the business turning 30. Talk focused mainly on the franchise model itself, but it was interesting to hear John’s wider views on the sign industry as a whole. You can find this interview on pages 46 and 47.


Inside this issue you can also find the usual hints, tips and advice from our regular expert contributors, as well news from across the world of sign making.
