Night-life carries on after the refurb job

A floor-standing Sanicubic 2 Pro lifting station from Saniflo has helped a nightclub in London adapt following a major refurbishment project. When the 600-capacity venue

was refurbished, a kitchen was installed in the basement and WCs a floor above, along with a cleaner’s cupboard. All waste water from these areas formerly drained into a bespoke pumping system in the corner of the pot wash area, which then pumped the waste up to ground level and away to the main drain. A soil inlet that was slightly

submerged into the lower section of the chamber was preventing waste water from completely draining into the pit, whilst a 100mm inlet pipe was too close to one of the submersible pumps in the pit, preventing it from eliminating all paper waste. This caused clogging, blockages and became a general inconvenience to an otherwise excellent venue. Surrey-based PumpServ, a national pump solutions

HIUs deliver efficiency for communal heating system

maintenance company, was approached to evaluate the issue and suggest a solution. One option was to lower the

chamber floor, but this would have involved breaking out the concrete oversite. With concerns about the proximity of the Regent Canal and potential ground water ingress, PumpServ offered an alternative solution which required the existing pumps to be swapped out. After a call to the technical team at Saniflo and a subsequent site inspection, the floor-standing Sanicubic 2 Pro lifting station was recommended for the job. ◼ phamnews.co.uk/424/51

The Ironworks in Sheffield is a new residential development that features Taconova’s Heat Interface Units (HIUs) for sustainable and efficient heating. Developed by Rise Homes, this £37 million project offers quality rented accommodation and comprises 229 furnished apartments.

Each apartment is connected

to a communal biomass boiler- powered heating system, with water heated by the boiler circulating through the building’s risers and into the HIU. The TacoTherm H 3000E HIU was chosen for its compact design and efficient heat transfer for both heating and hot water. Taconova installed and

commissioned the 229 HIUs within three months, delivering 50 units per week. The TacoTherm H 3000E operates at 6 bar pressure, with an operating temperature of 90°C and the ability to generate hot water temperatures up to 60°C. The electronically controlled HIU provides data availability,

allowing for remote monitoring and analysis of heat consumption. Smart heating controls were also installed, enabling residents to control their heating remotely through a smartphone or tablet app. Rigorous testing was

conducted to ensure the HIUs functioned properly, including analysing pressure, temperature, and hot water temperatures in each apartment. Adjustments and remedial work were made to meet design parameters and achieve compliance. Taconova will continue to

monitor and improve the heating system for the lifetime of the scheme. ◼ phamnews.co.uk/424/52
