MBUK, Nukeproof and suicide prevention charity CALM partner to launch Ride Together
MOUNTAIN biking magazine Mountain Biking UK (MBUK) and bike brand Nukeproof have partnered with suicide prevention charity Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) to launch a series of group rides, Ride Together. The series is designed to raise awareness of CALM’s lifesaving
work and enable riders to create a network of like-minded people to head out for mood-boosting rides. Ride Together’s guided and supported group rides from well- established trail centres in Wales, Scotland and England, aim to bring together riders, whether beginner or experienced, in a relaxed environment. Alongside the group rides, those registered will receive a series of curated email newsletters.
Entries to the Ride Together events will be advertised in MBUK and BikeRadar, and take place during August, September and October 2022. To register interest in attending one of the group rides, riders need to submit their name, email, age and their mountain biking ability on the campaign landing page and select the check box of the ride they wish to join. Riders will then be selected at random nearer the time of the ride and will be contacted via email to confirm their position on the group ride. ●
Paligap winds down business after 21 years as Raleigh UK takes over distribution of Stan’s NoTubes
RALEIGH has announced that it will now be distributing Stan’s NoTubes in the UK and Ireland, after previous distributor Paligap announced it will be immediately winding down the business after 21 years. In July, Paligap managing director David Lane announced that the Bristol-based distributor would be closing. Paligap currently has brands like ALÉ clothing, Cipollini
bikes, and Goodyear tyres in its portfolio, and said a number of its brands will move to new distributors as the company winds down its position within the industry.
The Electric Bike Shop takes over four Pure Electric stores
THE Electric Bike Shop has announced that it is taking on four Pure Electric stores. The four stores include two in England, at Southampton and Gateshead, and The Electric Bike Shop is launching its first stores in Wales and Scotland, at Cardiff and Glasgow. All colleagues at the sites will be offered an opportunity to retain their job. The Electric Bike Shop also recently announced the acquisition of London bike store Flag Bikes. The store officially reopened as The Electric Bike Shop Battersea on Friday 5th August. ●
Paligap said it plans to continue trading until new partners are found.
On Raleigh UK taking over distribution of Stan’s, Clayton Goldsmith, sales manager EMEA for Stan’s, said: “We’d like to thank Paligap for their efforts and contributions to representing Stan’s NoTubes over the past 10-plus years. “They have been a great partner and we wish David Lane and the whole Paligap crew all the best in their future endeavours.” ●
Specialized UK acquires Rutland Cycling as part of expanding retailer network
SPECIALIZED UK has announced Rutland Cycling will now become part of its expanding retailer network. Specialized UK managing
director Simon Homer said: “Immediately, we will have to make some decisions to secure a sustainable future for Rutland and this may involve a restructuring of its network and cost base. We will do this with complete clarity and transparency, and with full consideration and consultation for those who may be affected.” Specialized said it will be working very closely with the Rutland team as ownership transfers across. London-based investment firm BGF will be completely exiting the business. ●
