n the modern age, it’s more feasible to fix even serious mechanical problems at the trail or roadside than it’s ever been. Tools are smaller, more adaptable, and higher quality than ever before. One company that has jumped on this movement is Swiss- based Daysaver. They have been around for just a few years with their innovative Allen key tool, and previously won a BikeBiz award in 2021 in the Innovation from a Newcomer category. And now, they’re looking to expand into the UK market. Founded in 2020, the Daysaver team is small, with co-founder Peter Eisenegger heading up the sales and marketing operations. We caught up with him and discussed the brand’s plans for the future, and why the UK is next on their list of target markets. “Daysaver began actually by accident,” explained Eisenegger. “My co-founder, Daniel is a super rider and a tinkerer as well, and he felt there was just no real usable multi- tool in the market. He always had an Allen key with him with just two different keys, but obviously the day came when he needed another one. And he thought okay, how is it possible to maintain the form factor of an Allen key,

but provide more than two tools? And that was the birth of Daysaver.”

This was in 2020, and by the end of 2022, the two had quit and closed down their innovation consultancy firm, and gone through the first round of financing and completed a successful Kickstarter campaign. Their first line of products, the Essential range, keeps the form factor of an Allen key, something Eisenegger says that means “you can reach any screw which is sometimes difficult with foldable tools.” He continued, “And you have different levels of torque so you can apply a lot of force if you need to, but you can also control the force for carbon fibre components.” The key point Daysaver is keen to get across is their high- quality construction. Each tool is made from stainless steel, and provides high torque values. “We say that we want to bring workshop quality for on the

go.” Eisenegger added, “So you’re really able to fix something for good on the trail. We think that we should provide our customers the possibility to adjust their equipment according to the adventure. So that’s why we build our product range in a modular way. “You can buy the core product, the multi-tool, and then you can complement it with extensions or mounts if you
