In this month’s distributor update, BikeBiz catches up with Greyville owner Lea Adams


B


eing a distributor in 2023 is a different challenge to what it was 40 years ago. Greyville Enterprises has


experienced all of those changes since it began supplying the UK cycle trade in 1979. Fast forward to the present day and Greyville is continuing to invest in its future with an ever- growing portfolio of brands and new additions to the team.


With most of 2023 now in the rear-view mirror, BikeBiz speaks to Lea Adams to see how he reflects on the year and what is coming up for the Worcestershire-based company.


How have the past 12 months been for Greyville? Like everyone in the industry we have had a challenging 12 months but we believe that diversifying into other markets has been a wise decision for us, especially because of the challenging times throughout the industry.

Like the rest of the market, we have faced some difficulties but our efforts to expand into new markets have allowed us to develop and find new opportunities. This strategy has provided several benefits for our


business. However challenging the past 12 months have been, we have used this time to reflect and react to the


market around us and most importantly learned lessons along the way. We believe this will make us stronger in the future.


What have been the biggest challenges and opportunities for 2023?


The biggest challenge for us and the industry as a whole is the overstock position, we are all managing increased numbers of excess inventory due to unpredictable market shifts. The boom and bust nature of the cycle industry in these current times and the unfortunate loss of a number of big
